Pacific BMW is selling the widescreen one for about $1500, that's only if your car is pre-wired for a NAV unit.

Pre-wired for NAV?? As far as I know none of the E46's are pre-wired for the Nav system, that's why it's such a PITA to add it. There's a group of cables you need to get and you have to rip appart a lot of your dash. There are a bunch of posts about doing it, but I've heard of people getting quotes of $3000+ to have it installed, if you can find a place that will even try it.

just get the accessory nav.
