does this unit play dvds or do i have to get a dvd player so it will display on the screen? I assume it at least takes cds

The 1005 only has a radio tuner, but acts as a controller for a CD changer/DVD player. Alpine came out with a 6 disk CD changer that reads DVDs as well, or you could link it to any Alpine disk changer and DVD player from any company (through the acc. port)
