View Full Version : Best Way to Dry Your Car.....

I think I might have found the best way to dry your car FAST. It started when I was washing my car at my gf's house and her dad had an electric leaf blower laying in the garage. I decided to plug it in after I washed my car, and it worked wonderfully. It pushes a majority of the water off of the car and it got mostly all the water out of the cracks that you can't reach with a towel. That was great because I usually have to drive my car to get all the water in the cracks to come out and leaves long streaks of dried water.

But I still had to go over the car with the absorber to pick up the remaining water, but there was only a little bit left.

If you have access to a leaf blower, try it. :D :D

I've been thinking of that idea too, just haven't had the chance to pick up a leaf blower. What's the power rating on the blower?

This is a tried and true method that people have been using for quite a while now. I think that the leaf blower should at least be rated at 100 mph.

i'd be scare to blow dust and dirt back on the car? no? one thing that works for me especially drying the car on humid miami nights is a spray called WAX-AS-YOU-DRY cost $5, you leave you car wet after the wash spray a little on each panel, it makes the absorber collect more water and dry the car faster and leaves it really shinny. leaf blower sounds good to get those hard to reach spots tho.

GREAT POINT.... but a note, it's not a bad idea.....like MIAMITOPAZ said, you could blow dust back on the car, esp. when still wet (ie, water will absorb dust easier)....I would be apprehensive about this....However, I found the best way to dry is using the California "squeegy"....made by the same company with the California Duster....it covers ALOT of the car surface and you clean up the small areas with a terry cloth, etc....BUT now that you made the point about the leaf blower...a buddy of mine does that after he drys a majority of the car...he uses the blower for the small cracks...

Another Idea I've heard is to actually take the sprayer off your hose and let the water stream down the car in a constant stream. Give it a try it works :)

CA Waterblade + Absorber + Leaf Blower = Best drying combo with no dripping wet spots coming from the body panel gaps :) AND you can use it on your rims and tires. Faster than waiting for the rims and tires to dry before adding tire dressing. I'm sure a leaf blower beats the hell out of drying your car in 30-40 degree temps.

Yea, my technique for drying my car before was Waterblade then Absorber. That worked pretty well, except after I drive, I see all these water lines and spots where water came out of. I think I'm going to use the water blade/absorber combo, then finish it off with a leaf blower. :D Sounds funny, but it works.

Also, do you guys think those sprays such as Zaino Z6 and Meguiars quick detailer help the dust issue? The reason I ask is because those products can be applied when the car is a little dusty and they are not supposed to harm the paint.

One more thing, after I used the leaf blower, I used the absorber and it didnt' show any dust on it. :dunno:

The leaf blower that I used said it had a 150mph blower speed.

go with Mr. Clean AutoDry. It's the best $18.88 (at Discount Auto aka Advance Auto Parts) I've ever spent. It really works.

The answer to your question above is "YES" the Zaino Z6 works wonderfully after a wash. For those who have never used this before, I suggest that you go to the zainobros website and order this gloss enhancer spray which cost around $12+. The spray will last you a long long time. I always apply the Zaino Z6 on after a wash and it gives the car a Waxy Wet image which looks like I spent 3 hours waxing my car. Magically, the Z6 keeps the dust off for a long period of time.

Yup, I use Z6 always! After I wash my car, I just go over the whole car with z6 with a microfiber towel and the paint feels soo smooth. The reason I asked the question was that I was worried about the leaf blower spraying dust all over my car.

You can use the Mr. Clean AutoDry a few times but after awhile you will need to purchase more soap and a new filter. Lookin at the prices yesterday(Target), the filters go for *I believe* 4.99 and the soap 5.99. Considering you get a few washes, that is quite expensive! However the new technology is definitely amazing.

I've been using the leaf blower trick on my motorcycle for a couple of years. Works great! I've been hesitant to use it on the car though. I'm also concerned about blowing stuff back up on the body panels..... too much painted stuff on a car that could get damaged. My bike is mostly powdercoated and chrome.

After you finish washing you car, remove nozzle and drizzle the hose over the entire car and the majority of the water will bead off, leaving the waterblade+towel to finish the job in 1/2 the time.

Target has them.

I personally use the Calif Water Blade and then an absorber and then blow dry the wheels and cracks and touch up with a towel. As far as blowing dust and dirt onto the car I do this in my garage which I blow out before I even start to wash the car so no worries there. This is my Sunday ritual and my neighbors all think I'm nuts, F them!!!!
