Hi Guys i'm new on this boards.
Just wondering if anybody else on here has a E46 320i?
It's not sold in US only europe and Canada. I just bought a 2001 320i. Feature wise it's the same car as the 325i just with a slighly smaller (M54) engine. 2.2L inline 6, 170 HP.
Thanks

I went to mexico last summer and saw 3 320i's. At first I thought they were 330s with sp wheels, zhp rear bumper, and sp front. I like how they are entry level but sporty looking at the same time

Yes they do not look much different than the higher models. A friend of mine told me to take the 320i badge of the back so nobody would know what model it really is. ;). I was looking first at a 2000 323i, but this car was a better deal. .3 L less, same HP, newer generation engine. I got my 2001 with 40K - Miles (65K Km) for $16K US ($21K Canadian). It's still a peppy car and most important it has the BMW badge on it.

My friend has a 320i, mine is a 325i. If both badges were taken off the only way I could tell would be the headlamps...(the HIDs). There are some differences in the interior: the vanity headlamps in mine light up etc etc.. Ive driven both, both are 2003s. Honestly, there is not much difference in the acceleration, only at higher speeds I think that the 325 has a bit more pull. With the 6-7k difference in price my buddy has been able to do all sorts of mods with those savings. Since neither is going to win any speed related races maybe the 320 is a good way to go since you can do all those mods with the price difference (rims, clears, cai etc etc). 21k for a 2001 320i? Thats a good steal!

I'm in Ontario.
Yes it is a good deal, i got it privatly from a lady that bought it brand new.
It does have a couple dings on one door and a few stone chips on the hood.
She also rode the curb a few times while parking so she broke the clips that hold the lower bumper grill and lost the brake vent covers on both sides, also the rubber mud guard one of the front wheel wells was gone. I guess she thought that she can't get more cause of that damage. I bought all the broken and missing parts from a BMW dealer around here for $120 and it took me 30 min to replace them all. Car still has warranty till dec.2004 or 80K KM. I took it in for Oil service and also told the dealer to check couple things. They did find that the one lower stabiliser bar had play so they replaced them both for no charge. They checked the car and said that it apears in very good shape. So i guess i did very well.

Oh yes, the car also came with 16" 5 series style wheels (but with proper 3 series offset - aftermarket i assume) and brand new Pirelli 205 16 55 all seasons. I'll get some pics soon, but at this point there is not much to see, it's all stock except the wheels, and they are also nothing speciall.

Well that is awesome! You found a great deal for sure. She could have made way more money than that. Hopefully everything will be alright after dec or the 80k's and you won't run into any problems. What colour in and out is it?

It's dark blue (Orient Blue Metallic?) with sand interior. It's pretty basic, no other options than the Sunroof.

I bought a 320i (manufacture date: 1999) from a guy who drove it once to Ireland (from Austria) and back. It had 49,000 kilometers then. I still love it very much. It was an awesome deal - 12,000 euros (at 1 euro to 1.12 dollars then), and I had my first BMW. Its a great entry-level BMW for thirty-somethings who are starting to earn a little money and starting their family life.

I drove (rented from Budget $250/7 days) a wicked 320d Touring in Germany last fall. It was black/black with the following (drool):
cloth seats
heatlight adjustment in dash
windows can close with remote
PDC (worked really well)
dark glass (except front 3)
and an amazing 40 MPG with LOTS of 160kph & a ton of really slow city driving too, what a wonderful 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine

I own a 320i i live in canada, I dont think they are available everywhere, anyway my parents also have a 325i and ive driven both, i also notice very little difference in power, its just a very basic car so, if u plan on modding it out its a good way to go. Only thing i find is its hard to find aftermarket parts for specifically a 320i its always sold for 323 325 328 and 330, but generally i think the 320 and the 325 have interchangable parts for the most part.

I got a 320i too =) 2004, Mystic Blue, Step. Although i would love more power, I'm grateful for what I have, and hell it looks the same as any other 330 on the road anyway.
I've also found that 320 specific parts are hard to come by, but generally 325 parts fit the same. I've so far installed Remus exhaust and Simota CAI, plus CCFL Angel Eyes and LED indicators/license plate lights.

320i '01 2.2 170hp, m-tech, silver, can't fault it, first car was 318i saloon so a nice step up, obv not on a par with m3.
haven't started modifying it yet, will keep it subtle, mainly engine and exhaust. not easy to come across after market parts in Ireland either....i know both 320 and 325 are m54 engines but is there a manifold upgrade for it? with the m52 you can fit the m50 manifold as an upgrade...anyone upgrade?
Sardar, did you have to upgrade much to install the supercharger?
not 100%, correct me if i'm wrong but is the 320 a detuned 325 or is it that the 325 is a detuned 328?

320i has an M54 engine and the 323i has an M52 engine. Its the same size and similar (or the same) horsepower, just one is newer.

thought the 323 had 2.5l m52 engine....up to 01 i think, and the 325 from '01 has the 2.5l m54 engine.
i think the older 320 was m52 or m50, not 100% which was a 2.0ltr, '01 the 320 came with 2.2ltr m54
