I went to local auto shop this past weekend and got quoted $1950 total (including taxes) for the unit installed. I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not. I'm in the San Jose area by the way. I'm new at this ICE thing, so maybe some of you guys can give me a thumbs up or down on this quote. If it's a thumbs down, can you suggest another shop in the bay area with a better deal?
I was also thinking if it's a good deal, maybe some of you local guys can go in and we can get it at a cheaper price. Maybe like $1800.

First off... if you're picking that unit...
Welcome to the club! :hi:
Just bought one myself yesterday. :)
I bought the unit for $1535 shipped off of eBay.
I talked to a few installers around the area and they quoted $200-$300 on the install.
But, I'm seeing if a friend of mine would do it for $100 or $150 since he's good at that electronic stuff.

Sounds like a pretty realistic quote to me.

I was thinking about going the Ebay route but I'm kinda iffy about the warranty. The guy at the shop said that since he's an authorize pioneer dealer, I would have a three year warranty on it or something like that.
He also said if i brought the unit in and have him install it, it would cost $150. I checked with Good Guys and they were charging $200. At Fry's, it's $180. So total price with the Ebay route would be about $1700 ($1550 + $150).
I'm thinking if I could find a place that does it for about $1800 total, i would go for it.

Everyone has their reservations about eBay...
I've never gotten ripped off on eBay though... but twice from this forum.
Either way, I hope I get it as described.
The seller had 3000+ feedback with about 99% positive and most of what he sells is mobile audio equipment.
But yea, $1800 for unit+install... not bad.
I'd go for it! No waiting for it to come in the mail and you get your guarantee.
