I have searched this forum and the Rennsport one as well looking for an answer to serveral questions about Camshafts and Forced Induction...
I read an answer that Samir gave to someone that to be able to use aftermarket Cams with a SCer, they need to have more lift than duration... which i can translate to more Air going in for shorter spans..maybe im wrong.

So i guess my question to anyone that knows (maybe Technik, Samir) is what kind of Camshafts do i need for a supercharged 1999 e46 323i M52TU; i'm buying headers, racing pipe and high-flow resonator next week, still trying to find a used 3.46 differential... so, with this setup which Cams do you recommend? Cutomized Techniks? Is the Horse power gain "additive"...by this i mean, if i have 300 BHP now, then i should expect, with headers, etc and cams about 50BHP+? Thanks in advance.

the midranged schrick cams....248'/248'. I sent back my 264'/248', waiting for the 248's to arrive.

Erick, which headers, racing pipe, resonator are you buying?

Does the headers come with cats or you need to buy the cats separately?

Those are the cams i'm running in my car. I'll let you guys know how they respond to some pressurized air ;)

Aftermarket headers for the E46 never comes with cats. Your best bet at this point is go with the technik headers and carsound/magnaflow high flow cats. Ton's of hiflo cats on ebay.

I can't find any magnaflow/carsound cats for bmw on ebay.
Do you know where I can find this online and how much does this cost typically?

Thanks.

They won't be specifically for bmw's. All you need to know is the pipe diameter size you need and your set. For a 323/328 setup, you should only require one cat (replacing the first resonator). Not sure what size you'll need though. I would guess a 3" diameter would be sufficient.

he'ld still need two bungs after the cat, something a exhaust shop should be able to setup for him, either buy one with a single O2 bung installed already or without any, and have 2 welded in after the cat in the flow of things. Or for even better flow, buy a 325/330 exhaust, have the headers run straight back like the 325/330's do, a can for each bank of 3 cylinders, buy two cats to match the piping, and get the ones with a bug pre and post cat and move all your O2 sensors down onto them.....then use the available bungs on the headers for a seperate air/flow meter with a universal O2 sensor

I'm getting Supersprint Headers, Racing pipe and Resonator. They come specifically for BMW with matching pipe sizes.

Sent an e-mail to Rennsport; still waiting for the response on the pricing and availability
