ok guys, i do not have f/i, but i figured this was the best spot to put this in. i currently have headers, intake, software, pullies, exhaust. i have a set of schrick cams that i will be putting in soon, and wanted to know if i should get a 3 degree valve job? i figure since they have to crack the engine open, might as well get this done too. but is it worth it? what exactly does it do? how does it increase power? thanks for shedding some light on this topic

I beleive you are refering to a 3 angle valve job. A 3 angle valve job means that two additional flats are machined into the valve, one above and one below the 45 degree valve seating surface. This is done to improve airflow around the valve head.
In general, it is a good idea to have any valve work done while the head is off to save the labor and parts of doing the job again in the near future. Specifically, I don't know if modern BMW motors benefit from valve work with or without higher performance cams. You might even want to consider some mild porting. Try talking to a respected BMW tuner with experience in engine work to see if the 3 angle valve job is worth it. Try Turner or VAC for info.

you are my favorite member, you have clear cut answers to all my questions.haha I figure while i am getting cams installed, might as well have some other work done at the same time. the shop that i take my car to can do just about anything with a bmw. i am just looking to squeeze out a few more horsies from my car. i am staying all motor so i figure these are the kind of things i need to look at. anything else i should look at for N/A?

not yet, will probably do it after cams and whatever other work i get done to it. i am hoping for 200hp to the wheels. plus a little weight savngs from the seats i changed, the lighter wheels, and eventually gutting the rear. so the car should feel really good.

i will definitely think long and hard about doing this down the road. might have to be my next major mod after cams. so what do you actually need to order from Level 10, just the converter, or are there other parts that need to be order as well? thanks again
