Someone please explain what a wastegate and BOV are. Are these the same things? :dunno: Thanks.

search on google, better info than someone will probably post here.

Wastegate reduces the rate at which exhaust gasses are entering the turbo. The purpose of that is to not make the turbo spin too fast and make too much boost. (ie boost creep)

A blow off purges the AIR going INTO the engine. It is usually only useful on HIGH hp/high PSI cars where a something seriously bad can happen to the engine if the boost is not dumped during sudden RPM changes. (ie shifting gears, suddenly letting off the gas, etc)

BOV

actually, i think bovs are good for any kind of FI application. usually though, there is something called a bypass valve which just recirculates the air to the intake. same concept tho.

Yeah, cept BOV's on low PSI cars do very little cept make a sound and make the car run rich in b/w shifts. Like you said a recirculation valve can actually be useful and add some performance gains.

or u could go the MAP route instead of MAF and still use a blow-off valve and not run rich between shifts, but i like my little jets of flames coming out the exhaust :)
