Turbo timer on a supercharged car is not necessary.

When you remove the keys from the ignition, the turbo timer is activated and actually keeps your engine running for X amount of minutes and you lock your door and walk away.

This helps cool down the turbo bearings since they are very hot and you dont want oil on a hot shaft/bearing. Doing so will cause the oil to coke on it and your turbo will fail.

Its not necessary on NA or Supercharged vehicles.

I was just thinking because if i am beating on it in the hot south florida weather, then just turn it off, it is oil cooled like a turbo so why would it not have the same effect?

No it wont. In fact it may even cause the engine oil temp. to go higher than normal.

If the timer is on then the engine is running at idle, the hot weather and no air passing through the engine will cause engine oil to go slightly up. The only thing trying to prevent it from overheating is the engine and aux. fan.

How many rpms does the ASA blower spin at 8psi? How hot does the shaft or bearings get?

AA Turbochargers can spin at about 120,000. The turbo shaft/bearing area can have a surface temp. of 500F.

The Rotrex spins at about 100,000-108,000 I think but thats only at redline. It doesnt get as hot as a turbo because its not on the exhaust side or bolted onto a turbo manifold where we all know it can be well over 1000F in EGTs.

6.5psi with 90,000 rpm thereabouts. But I agree that SC apps don't need turbo timer.

actually not to step on anyones toes but a turbo timer can help any car...With a supercharger it will allow the left over oil to cool enough in order that it wont clog the lines...however I had a turbo timer on my last turbo car and i got really tired of it...kinda a pain in the ass, and i currently dont have one on my car with the sc right now...so to sum things up yes, they can help all in all, but to me its nothing major enough to have one!

I just let the car sit for 30-60seconds before i turn it off to let the oil run though.

I just get out of the car and smoke a cigarette, when the smoke is done, the turbo time is done  not too hard.
