Here is my dilema. I am getting the JL stealthboxes and a JL 450/4 amp. I am also getting some 6 1/2 seperates for the front but I haven't made up my mind which ones yet. I like the oem look of the factory radio and have a stealthone that I will be installing. I am not impressed with the metra kit. I also would like to keep my steering wheel controls. After all that my question is has anyone used the factory HU with the high level inputs on the JL amps and how did it sound. I talk to JL and they said it should work fine even with the high voltage and unbalanced inputs. I know a lot of people say that changing the HU makes a world of difference, and it may come to that, but for now I would like to avoid it. Anybody have pix of custom faceplate, and/or know of radios that can keep the buttons on the steering wheel without using IR.

Instead of using JL amp, may I suggest Soundstream. Their Van Gogh line has high inputs up to 12 volts and it also has the balance input. I think this would be a perfect solution for our HU. The VGA320.4 is comparible to the JL 300/4.
