It's good to see that they are really promoting the races and more people are involved. I remember when the first closed the flight line and people starting dragging on it. It has come along way.

Yup, it's really great. It seems Germans have a much better approach to this stuff all around.

Especially at the car shows. There is no love in the U.S. for bimmers.

Two things:

1. You can't even talk smack without bringing up someone else's car. You can run your mouth all day but know no matter how fast Naz is, I'd sure smoke you.

Steve, Zam - unless you're at the 'Ring, you should come to Bitburg. I talked to the guy that organized the autocross - it's not close to the drag racing but he's modeling it after Stateside SCCA. Should be interesting, they're trying to get the word out.

Yup, it was down for a while (they had it last year) but it's up again. The guy who organizes it is a SCCA guy from the States and he's very interested in spreading the word.

We talked for half an hour last month and I couldn't get him to shut up about it :)

Yep, I've autocrossed at Bitburg 2 months ago. I somehow missed last month(car show or the ring?) & will miss the 4th/5th(going to eurodisney). None of my 'stang buddies even invited me. :( Doesn't matter since my car will still be in the shop.

Anyways, the autocross was sweet. The only problems I noticed was: Due to the lack of space, only 1 car can go out at a time. Cars start and stop at the same point & the driver is responsible for cone cleanup and timer reset. If everything is spot on, there will be a new car out every 3 mins.

When I drove the course it was stricly a 1st gear affair. I jumped into 2nd, but only on a couple of the straights. Also, he didn't allow me to keep my window open(personal preference, I like to hear the tires cutting loose). All in all very fun throwing my 3400lbs around.

If anyone goes, try suggesting a move back to Sembach. If we could get more space, it would be possible to have at least 2 cars on the course at a time. There are many car nut locals, & I'm sure many would attend.

Sembach was better, but I don't remember any space for an autocross course :dunno: Also, for what ever reason they were only timing 1/8 mile there :dunno:
