I see on the ESS website some new supercharger applications using the ASA compressor, the TM1-12 unit. They advertise kits for 2001-2003 E46 3 Series with the MS43 Seimens ECU, and for the 2004 MS45 ECU's, including the ZHP models. $6,500. These kits are air-to-air intercooled.

Looks like they dropped a grand off of their asking price for the Vortech V2SQ based systems; now $4,995. They are also selling a liquid-to-air charge cooler kit for these systems; $1,995.

Wow that's pretty sweet:

Part number: 114-13
Boost pressure: 8 PSI
Horsepower: 350 DIN (Stock 235)
Torque: 420 NM (Stock 300)
0 - 60: Man : 4.7 sec
1/4mile: Man : 13.07 @ 109.4MPH
Installation time : 8-10 hours

It still says comming soon though, and they are asking for $7500 for the ZHP version, wonder why that is...

Looks very promising!!! I cant wait until its out. The development dates seems it will be out by Sept. 2004 =). And boosting at 9psi plus, injectors, intercooler, hardware, and plus software . Now thats a complete kit. But dont want to jump to conclusions, but looks very very promising.

Nice

Good to see ESS stepping it up with the ASA compressor. Looking at their site, the kit uses the same intercooler, piping, SC bracket, and SC as the ASA SK1 kit.

so is this new ESS kit better than the AA S/C? I know ASA is just as good as AA but a lot of people get warning lights with ASA

I don't think so, because apparently, it is still in production. RennSport already has the software written out and is fine-tuning it. Software for the ASA from RennSport is suppose to be out in about a month or so. I guess ESS finally found out that ASA is the better compressor. :dunno:

Oh this looks great!
325 s/c:

Part number: 114-17
Boost pressure: 8 PSI
Horsepower: 305 DIN (Stock 185/192)
Torque: 350 NM (Stock 245)
0 - 60: Man : 5.4 sec, Aut : 6.2 sec
Installation time : 8-10 hours

300 BHP, and 0-60 in 5.4sec :)
Sounds like fun. Its "only" 6300$, and comes with fuel injectors and software.

The people who have warning lights with the ASA kit is usually due to installation error of the vaccum lines. I must admit, the ASA kit is more complex to install but now with the new manual from Rennsport, installation errors should be a thing of the past. Figure I was able to install the kit with Rich in two days. The car started right up and idled just like stock. No CEL at all :) and the let me tell you the power even in the 2.5 is insane. The 6 now feels like a V8 and not to mention the blowoff vavle type sound the bp valves make sounds so sweet. I really need to get a sound clip of this hehe.

I won't hold your breath on the ESS kit. Their scheduled release dates is as bad as Jim C's shark injector. ESS has gone through many revisions of their software and some people still get cels. I can imagine it would be the same with their TX line of SC.

I had a video of my car running through gears up to 7K RPMS somewhere. Prolly do a search and you will get blowoff heaven! :P

Alan, I know mine's not sorted, and probably leaking boost.

But I don't get a loud sound at all. Have you changed the valves that came with the kit for somehting else. If so what is it.... ? Thanks

Hi Durgesh,

I changed out my bp valves for the "710N" one that comes on the 225hp audi TT's. Looks identical to the stock one that comes w. the ASA kit but it has a upgraded spring/diaphram to handle more boost. Its a very popular upgrade for the VW/Audi camp who had the older valves on their cars. The 710N is the latest one. Not sure if this valve is louder or not. I get mixed reviews over on the audi forums. Some say its louder....some say it sounds the same. I got it just for the peace of mind and curious if it would make a louder blowoff valve type sound. I need to compare it again with another asa'ed car. All i know is that the sound is very distintive and you clearly hear it with your windows down.

Order it here or any Audi/VW dealer... (you need 2) http://www.greedspeed.com/products/prod_details.aspx?prod_id=1694&app=14&app_desc=2002-2004%20Audi%20A4%20Quattro%20B6%201.8t&cat=11

If you don't have any sound at all coming from your bypass valves, then I would suspect something is installed incorrectly. On my car.....the valves stay open when i'm on light throttle and you hear a constant "shhhhhh" sound. The instant I step on the throttle some more, the valves shut and the "shhhhhh" sound goes away until i get off the gas when i shift where it then lets out a nice "Whoosh". To my understanding, this is suppose to happen. While your on part throttle, your throttle plate is barely opened but the compressor is still generating boost so the valves are there to relieve pressure back into the intake pipe. Once you step on it, your throttle plate is now open and your asking the compressor to give you all the boost it can give so the valves stay shut.

When are you going back to ASA? In the meantime, if you could pull your bumper off and take alot of pics of your install, i'm sure we could help figure out what your installer did wrong.

I found a old video of Wyu's car posted by xs3x. My car sounds very similar to his when I shift. Notice the sound right at the 21 second mark.

Thanks for all the info Alan,

Now I see to think about it, when I got it installed a few months back, leaving the garage right after install I did have the sound even on part throttle, and lifting off etc. And then it went away after only a few miles.

I then did the-run in 500 miles etc. And we found it only producing only small gains.

Which makes me think that in the first few miles a hose must have come lose. At the time, I thought it was maybe there only as a part of the SC wearing in. I think this confirms its probably just a lose pipe somewhere.

I am going back to ASA for a full reinstall on the 12 of september. They are going to AFR tune it and everything. If I get time, will take the front off and take some pictures.

Thanks all the help, I'll go to Audi and get the valves, and give them to ASA to install.

that video sucked ass. :thumbdwn: I'll try to get some better ones that will show you how the bypass valve sounds. It is much more apparent than it is shown on that vid. I just need to find the time and get off my lazy butt! :lmao:

Just curious, but ESS claims 270 hp with the ASA blower at 8 psi, while ASA claims 280 hp at 6.5 psi (I believe), while AA claims 310 hp. Why is there this power difference?
