I want to keep as stock / stealth of a look as possible and prefer not to have the intercooler visible beind the grill. Painting it is probably out of the question because I suspect it reduces efficiency. But what about anodizing or something like that? Is this possible and if so, where can you get it done?

hmmm... I wonder if it's even visible when installed on a 330i with sport package. :dunno:
Yep mine is and well hidden.

I have a 330 with he sport package and you can clearly see it. I woud like to paint my black also, anyone have any info for us?
I painted mine flat black with bbq paint (not for any heat reason, just because it lasts longer and can withstand bugs and washing.

by the time you get the turbo from ATP you will need to repaint your car because bmw paint job only lasts 22 years

How long has it been painted and is there any chipping due to the road debris?

Since March and no chips

ideally it would be better to have it anodized than painted as the paint is going to have a slight effect on the efficiency of the intercooler (but is probably negligible).

I wouldn't think a thin coat of paint would affect the intercooler too much

Hey Omes, I noticed that black border blocking some of the intercooler airflow on your front grill..
Did you know that's a 2 piece grill? You can snap off the back part of it, and make it fully exposed... :)

I had my intercooler polished out. Quite the opposite affect you guys are trying to achieve :)
I get the funniest jaw drops when people see the front of my car with the polished intercooler. Seeing a front mount intercooler is rare enough on the east coast but seeing it on BMW is extremely rare.

Beautiful job on you IC Alan, I just like the stealth factor and with the mtech keeps the car looking clean.
