It was the hottest day of the year yesterday. 95 degrees with an 80 dew point. Went to New England Dragway for their import wars.

Thousands of cool cars, and only 3 bimmers.

My 2000 323 14.4 - 14.9
A 1999 328 6speed 15.3 - 15.5
A 2001 M3 - did not see him run.

As the day got hotter and hotter my track time went in the toilet. My intake was reading over 100 degrees at idle.

I can't wait for the last import war day in October, cooler weather better times. By then I might have my torque converter and maybe a 50 shot of NOS, Maybe.

WE NEED MORE BIMMER THERE, COME ON GUYS AND GALS :woot:

^^ You ran 13.9 with an SC?

Well, i dont know if you can beat 108F... ran 14.2 and that is HOT!!...usually run 13.5 to 13.7 in 78F to 85F degree temp.

I REALLY need to get an Aquamist system or most likely a NX Ntercooler... think the Ntercooler can do a better job? :dunno:

What are your 60 foot times? Trap speeds? any slips.

No time slips... got no tracks here, if you can believe that

Got G-techs... here you go:

1. stock 205x45 tires at 84F

stock 205x55 at 105F:

This was actually the 4th race (and Final) in a drag racing event...was against a Subaru WRX Sti boosting 15psi with nitrous... needless to say the guy pulled like 2 to 3 cars on me...maybe woulda done better with WI or Ntercooler :dunno:

last one...

M3 stock 255x45x18 tires (a friend of mine lend them to me), first run on 95F temp:

Morale of the story, need better tires and WI/Ntercooler :dunno:

Yeah...............

2.8ish 60 ft times

best ever was 13.989 @ 102.XX

Those time differences make a big difference with weight differences according to the manual of G Tech... Toom mine to a truck stop and weighed mine in..

Is your car manual or step? Other performance mods?

G-tech is not real world conditions. My car runs 13.2 - 13.4 on a computer sim. Now driving is a totally different thing. I not flamming anyone, without a real time slip, you don;t have a 1/4 mile time.

My car is manual. No other mods at that time other than B&B triflo exhaust.

Are you saying that my time was fast or slow???

G-tech times have nothing to do with weight...reffer to page 23 of the G-tech manual:

"The g-tech uses vehicle weight to calculate horsepower and torque".

page 73 also talks about that.

Real world conditions? How real can you get?

G-techs have been used for years and have been proven to be accurate to 5/100th of a second. It accurately measures acceleration and distance taking into account the G-forces the car generates. Its basic Physics.

How else could you accurately measure 1/4 mile times? stopwatch?

Anyone have bad experiences with g-techs? :dunno:

Ok, Thats why mostly all good car mag give it a thumbs down. Do some research, I did and thats why I did not buy it, used a friends at the track and the POS was way off. I did a 13.4 in my Z28 and the gtech said 12.3, nice. We played around with it and when you shift gears, brake hard, pump the throttle the gtech screws up. POS IMO.

Seems like all important mags use G-tech to measure their 1/4 mile times:

European Car Magazine:

"After passing through Oettinger's hands, the GTI 1.8T does much better. I used the accurate and easily operated G-Tech/PRO for the test and was able to reliably click off 0 to 60 times in the 6.5-sec. range--without seriously abusing the car, time after time. Awesome."

http://www.europeancarweb.com/features/0209ec_18ts/index.html

"Debate rages over which is better, turbocharging or supercharging, and while both certainly have their distinct advantages, nothing quite compares to the brutal acceleration of an Active turbo...nothing. The g-forces these cars generate is so euphoria inducing, I found myself coming to a dead stop and re-launching every half mile or so. As recorded on a G-Tech performance computer, 100 mph comes up in a scant 10.4 sec., and, despite a slipping clutch, I was able to get low 13s in the 1/4-mile."

http://www.europeancarweb.com/features/0106ec_activehunters/index.html

Import tuner, Turbo Magazine, Motortrend reffered:

"Question: Which power meter is best? I have come across the Blitz and G-Tech. Which one is more accurate? Where can I get the cheapest (the web site).
Answer: As far as power meters go, I have never used one so I went out and dug up some reviews and comparisons. It would seem to me that the G-Tech power meter is your best bet for performance and price. This opinion is based on what I have read about them, not actual experience."

Not bashing your opinion, but would like to see what you reffer to with: "...Thats why mostly all good car mag give it a thumbs down". :dunno:

13.9 seems rather slow for a boosted 330 manual. I would imagine you should be able to hit low 13's. You have the ESS kit right?

This is like 5 years ago when they first came out. I ahve seen people at the track use this POS and it shows how it is way off time and time again. It can also be fooled very easily. Mags will publish anything as long at the SPONSOR gives up the cash. Come on now. I have made probally over 400 passes at the 1/4 mile. In camaros, mustangs, Monte carlos, Grand nationals, Bmws, even a mercury cougar of all which I have owned. Nothing measures real world conditions like the real world, and the driver. Again IMO
