I stopped by the BMW dealership yesterday, I know what your expecting me to say...but...

2 Salesmen at the North Scottsdale BMW (one of mine) are race car drivers for BMW, running M3s & Mini coopers.

This is their opinions on what is needed & not needed if you are looking to put in a S/C.

1. Stock brakes are fine if you don't plan to race or track your car. You just should change to racing brake fluid (probably DOT 5). They also said the brake pads are up to you as well. It's justthat you want to increase the Boiling Point of your brake fluid by going with racing fluid.

2. Stock (any) suspension systems are based on HP/Torque of the vehicle. They recommend to upgrade to a suspension system that can handle an increase of over 60 hp from stock. Anything from 0-60 hp upgrades, you can keep stock suspension set-up. REMEMBER...this is based on the ZHP ONLY!

3. Change the rear diff. to 3.15 or close to that. They don't recommend jumping to a 3.64 diff., especially if you plan to drive your car as a daily driver. I'm thinking of going to the 3.23 or 3.38...probably Technik 3.23 Torsen LSD.

4. As for everything else, eg exhaust, that's all up to you.

Just thought fellow 330i ZHP owners would like to get some feedback directly about thier vehicles.

Good stuff. However, you realize that the ZHP package isn't a huge departure from non-ZHP 330's. All your information applies to non-ZHPs.

1. Brakes are the same

2. Going with what was said adding 100 hp to the ZHP = upgraded suspension, so then the same would hold true to non-ZHP's

3. Upgrading to a 3.15, well the ZHP has a 3.07, and non-ZHPs have a 2.93 (or 2.91 can't remember), so there'd be a change either way (talking manual trannies)

4. I guess you summed it up already.

Has the Technik diff been released? I know some folks were looking forward to the unit, but no one has checked back with any impressions... :dunno:

P.S. I don't suppose you got any pictures of those guys' race cars... :)

I can ask them, I'll be at the dealership tomorrow...All the parts for my lumbar seat install should be in.

Also

Forgot to mention that they recommend to use "Red" something Tranny fluid (high performance Fluid) in hte tranny & differential.

I left an e-mail with RENNsport about evrything I'm looking to get, especially the rear diff. I'm also gonna find out the cost of ther Dinan 3.15...their site says $1150 after swaping the stock out & 3.7 hrs of labor.

Redline tranny fluid. It's supposed to make shifts a whole lot smoother.

Your car is going to be amazing when you get done. Too bad that you wont have a warrany left tho....

Just on Engine & Powertrain...everything else will be still covered. By law, BMW has to prove that an aftermarket part caused problems, eg. like withthe A/C or electical system (non engine).

Does changing the diff (3.07:1 to >3.15:1) on the 2004 ZHP Ci steptronic affects the DSC? Any help?
