very interesting, this is exactly what I am looking for. I am so tired of looking at the damn CEL light. Now the question is , is this legit? I think it might be worth a try for that price! what do you guys think, will this work?

Could work, just have to keep the heater circuit intact (don't cut it), otherwise you will get a new CEL.

You guys are working on new software right? I am looking to get some new software(dont think the Shark is cutting it anymore). Just one question, are we going to have to ship out the ECU?

Im just going to keep my code reader in the car so that I can clear out the code every time it pops up. Looks like I can go CEL free for about 150 - 200 miles.
I think I will get some magnaflow cats eventually.

Could you clarify this further.....
I also emailed the guys that make this piece (baker electronics) to see if they have sold any to E46 owners. I haven't got my headers yet but I will buy one for anyone that wants to try and make it work before I get mine....Crispvx you up for that?
Hey Guys, sent them an email and this is what i got, ordering my header today now that a fix for the CEL is in place....

Yes, our DualO2 will work fine on your BMWs to simulate your PostCat/Downstream sensors, You will need to ether leave your old sensors heater connected or use a resistor to simulate the heater to avoid the "faulty Heater" error codes. You will be able to remove your Cats and avoid the check engine light caused by bad/missing Cats and PostCat O2 sensors.

I apologize for being an a$$hole, but that's like asking if killing would become legal when you use a mask... :lmao: :lmao:
Back to topic; If this thing works, I'll be buying some headers pretty soon...

i just bought one guys, i figure for $30 with shipping, it can't hurt. the problem is, I will not be able to get this installed right away. I will get it installed when I get my other gauges put in(within a month hopefully). if someone else gets this installed, let us know how it goes.
Awesome guys! I can't wait to get my headers now! I was concerned about that damn CEL and since I have been CEL free for 6 weeks I intend on keeping it that way. Crispvx if you are hard up I will buy you one! :) Call it a consulting fee.

Hi Omes, I would be interested at some point in doing this mod. What headers are u using? where did you buy them?
Is WS automotive doing the install? how much labour for the install?
Thanks

Hey man, yep WS will probably be doing the install, I just ordered up my clutch from tunerworks via UUC and would like to do it all at the same time. Rennsport is offering the RD Sport Headers at a discount for me but I would still like to go with Supersprint as I already have the SS cat back. Just decieding right now. Bill at WS quoted me 6 hours for the header install. So about $500 cdn for the install work.
Omes.

no difference between the two headers.

Well, I bought the Supersprint Headers and needed no O2 simulators... no CELs either. Highly recommend them.

Hard to tell in the photos but is there a lot less restrictive air flow with these upgraded headers?

They should be Samir said when I asked before that should see about +25 hp with FI setup, others I have asked and talked to agreed.

I got a feeling that your DME is programmed differently from those E46s in the US. Hence the lack of CELs. What's the year/model of your E46? Which factory in Germany was it assembled in?

updates on o2 sims!
Just ordered up my goodies yesterday (headers, x-pipe and sims) should have them all in a week or so. Thinking of trying to run without them and see what happens, if I get a CEL then in it goes.
Sorry for the delay. You will need to ether leave your old sensors heater connected or use a resistor to simulate the heater to avoid the "faulty Heater" error codes. I'm not sure about the wire colors on your 02 but some of the other years had:
Sensor wire colors:
Black - O2 signal
Gray - Signal Ground
White - Heater +12V
White - Heater ground
I've attached a BMP diagram of connecting our simulator up using your old sensor's heater wires or using a resistor. Let us know if your wires match these. You should only need one simulator even for a dual exhaust systems.
Will this work if I am planning and EGT gauge in one of the bungs , I am not sure if the existing O2 sensors still get put back in or do you leave them out?
Sorry for the crappy image.....it is a .bmp and the filesize allowed was only 12kb so i had to shrink the **** out of it.

I think I read something about sims not working with e46.
headers are my next mod, so whats the best way to be CEL free with AND without cats, i rather run no cats, but if cats is a must i will, do i need new o2 sensors if i have to buy new cats?

I too have installed the baker o2 sim but I have yet to get it to work correctly. I got ride of the 2 CEL of p0420 and p0430 (post cat inefficiency) but I have now got 4 new codes p2098, 2096 (lean) and p2271, 2273 (stuck rich). Any ideas as to what it might be??

Cant u extend the sensors? I still am not sure if i want to go through with all of the hassle. I will definetely buy some magnaflow universal cats but just not sure which kind to get. Can I just extend my o2 sensors through the cats??

Yeah you can extend the o2 sensors but according to somebody at turner motorsports that I talked to, the lines are sensitive and you can throw codes from just messing with the lines. I was talking to the guy at technik and they said they could custom build me two extensions for like $300.

My check Engine lights are still on and Technik is supposed to look at it for me, still waiting for a fix for this problem. I have Supersprint Headers...

On the subject of O2 wiring I read somewhere that you need to make sure to use silver solder etc as not to increase the resistance in the O2 wiring.
