Hi guys, is tehre a law stating that the landlord should change the carpet every so "XXX" years disregard the condition of the carpet?

I am thinking about moving into a unit and I belive the carpet has never been changed, but the unit itself is alreayd 7 years old. The carpet is not that dirty but it does look worn a bit, not the new puffy carpet you get.
This is in the Newport, Jersey City area. An apt owned by the Avalon Cove management.

Anyway, just wondering sinec I would really prefer new carpet but I konw the management is going to come up with excuses about how the conditoin is good and they only going to clean it but not replace it
:P
any thoughts?

They dont have to change the carpet unless its in really bad condition. Not being "PUFFY" anymore doesnt cut it...LOL by the way welcome to Hudson County.

You can do what I did, buy a carpet and then send the receipt to your landlord with your rent (with the price subtracted from the rent of course).
