Trying to decide what setup i want to get for my 2001 Ci. I like everything ive heard about the icelink, but I ran across the www.mp3mycar.com site. Has anyone here tried it? As far as i can tell, it has all the same features of the Icelink but sells for $189 instead of the $229 for the Icelink. Just curious if it really is as good as icelink, or if im overlooking something here. Thanks

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want the Active cradle Dension offers for the ice>Link, you're not going to get it with the NEO. You will also lose out on adjustability gain control via the head unit since NEO is using a different adapter.

BTW - ipodyourcar.com does purchase directly from Dension, but some items are used instead of Dension pieces in order to cut costs. :shhh:

You can also purchase from supporting vendors such as Dension :craig:

Thanks for the reply...good point on the Active cradle, that is something I'd prefer to have. And i also just recieved an email from mp3yourcar.com, and they informed me that "The BMW iPod Car Connector is a special order product and is $219.00 + shipping." The only advantage they had over the ice>link was the price difference, now it seems its only $10 cheaper. So it sounds like im sold on the ice>link. thanks again for the reply

It depends on what kit you are referring to. We have a trunk interface that is $219 also.

I keep getting confused here about the trunk kit and radio kit, I have a 2000 328ci, I thought I had to get the trunk kit in order for it to work? I'm I wrong here?

Nope.

All e46s have a choice of 2 interfaces to use when integrating the iPod. The Trunk Mount [I11_BMW_T] is a little easier since you do not have to remove the radio for the DIY, the Radio end kit [I11_BMW_17] is better suited for those that have experience removing the radio or professional installation - it will require less time.

Now keep in mind that if you have Navigation, have plans for BMW/Sirius or Bluetooth (All BMW OEM pieces) this will require the I11_BMW_T kit.

ok, do I need to run wire from the trunk all the way to the front of the head unit? In order to hook up my ipod? If I take the trunk installation, doesn't that require professional installation? And doesn't that still require me to remove the head unit in order to plug the thing in? Also do both types have all the same features?

The install is relatively simple, but I'm more of the do-it-yourselfer. What I don't want to do is create a mechanic out of someone that should not be in the electronics in the first place, hence the comment "professional installation recommended"

If you opt for the Trunk mounted kit, you will need to run the cable from the trunk to the front of the vehicle where you will control the iPod. The trunk install is essentially the easiest in my opinion - taking about 90 minutes for the install.

Both kits have the same exact features.
