This just in... Enhanced DDEs with opaque backing, 1 year warranty, etc etc... only $90!!!
We are waiting on the harnesses (which will have the usual heat-retardant sheathing etc etc) to arrive, then we're ready to go.

We'll give you fair warning, so you can save your pennies:
We'll probably be doing a <b>"Buy ANY DDE kit, get a free remote activation kit pre-installed"</b> deal, which will apply to the new kit, the $290 kit, and the current $90 Kit... which may drop in price... we'll see.

Demon Eyes - aftermarket

These will not fit X5, the rings are too small

P46's have native built in DDEs - they are $500w/o HID

The remote is just plain cool - also, these aren't LED OR Fiberoptic - they're 3-4 times brighter, though.

We don't have these on the site... yet :)

We could do a trade, but it wouldn't be that favorable - there will have to be a cost to upgrade, or everyone will send back their old ones, and what will I ever do with 1000000 rings? :dunno:

lol me too, I installed them during the hurricane in my garage because I wanted them so bad.. I didn't finish that night though cause my dad made me come inside. But I burned the ballasts out the next day somehow.. Luckily I got videos and pictures lol.. It's too bad I ripped my dde ring wires apart trying to fix them like a newb.. I'm dieing for them.

(Few of us are :ben: that we spent $90 only a few weeks ago for non-enhanced and no remote [i havent even installed mine], thinking that is the end-all Christmas special and that it doesn't get any better than that. Those of us now have to drop another $90 just to get an enhanced upgrade and remote)

So whats the diff between what you bought and the kit coming out.... just the remote? I still lack to see the big deal about the remote. Maybe because I don't understand exactly what it does for them :dunno: .

I apologize to those of you who feel you waisted your money previously. Were it 100% up to me, I would leave the value of YOUR product at $149, and make this new kit $175 or $200 - but, unfortunately, competitors in this market have greatly de-valued the product to be a dime-a-dozen item. Long gone are the days when you can say "Those are WheelPower Phosphyre Halos... enhanced" and have everyone at the meet go "Oooh." You can thank the competition for that. We have no choice but to keep up with other people's ridiculously low prices :cry:

Or is it simply these cheaper kits have some china made parts that are "lower quality" perhaps, or just so massed produced the cost is cheaper.

Why would someone continue to spend $300 on the Wheelpower kit if a $90 or $150 kit is going to look as good, have full harness, and be just as bright?

Actually, all of the above. These ones have less sophisticated clips, no connectors for the harness --> ballasts (you can use butt connectors or solder), the warranty isn't free parts or lifetime - you pay $10 per part for the first year, $30 after that. The enhanced upgrades are thinner, less OEM looking. The harness may require running one of the wires out of the sheathing, whereas that is already done for you on the phosphyre halos harness. They are mass produced and cost us much much less because they aren't name brand. Ever bougth Absolut vodka? Expensive and nice, right? Ever bought Pavlov? Still get's you drunk at the end of the day, just doesn't necessarily taste as good ;) How's that for an analogy :rofl:

I'd say they're about as bright as Phosphyre halos, give or take 5%. I haven't really done a side-by-side, no time :(

So for $190 extra dollars you get:

-Thicker enhanced ring
-Better mounting clip - can't say how much better without pictures
-Lifetime warranty
-More complete wiring harness

Depending on the installer, some of those are trivial items not worth cash, namely wiring harness and possibly mounting clips. A lifetime warranty and thicker enhanced rings are actual feasble items you can see benefits from (thicker ring) and get benefits from (lifetime warranty) if you have issues with product.

So now it seems these newer generic kits are going to have 1 step up on Wheelpower in 1 aspect, and that's the opaque backings. Sure it's easy as pie to get some foil tape and cut it to fit your rings, but having it come that way is a little nicer. Is the Wheelpower kit going to get updated to have this feature?

Is there going to be a time when the generic kits have ALL the features of the Wheelpower kit? Or all of them except the lifetime warranty perhaps? Most people would spend $100 and potentially have to buy the kit 3x total in the life of their car (assuming they had rings or ballast go bad, etc), then spend $300 at once just to have a lifetime warranty they might not ever have to use.

Seems like the CCFL Angel Eyes/DDE market changes every few weeks now, impossible to always keep up.

The DDE Kits we are selling now are a pre-cursor to DDE Lightning Titanium Edition, as far as I know that's what it will be renamed.
It will have many new features, including heating and a true reflective backing.
Anyone who buys our premium kits now will have the benefit to upgrade to TE for much less. Anyone who buys the $90 kits will have to pay full price for the heating feature if they want it.

<b>Bottom line is that NO, generic kits will never keep up. Why? Our suppliers on DDE Lightning Titanium Edition have patented the heating technology, which will permanently eliminate cold starts, in every country that has the tools of production necessary to make these rings. Sorry Taiwan. Sorry Japan. Sorry China. If you don't mind waiting 30 seconds for your halos to fire up to full brightness, then no worries. But I think the heating feature is a justification of the price point that TE will be set at. More to come next month on that </b>

JL.... I got my kit in today. I ordered the kit and remote... seems I only got the kit, no remote.
And also... I dont understand how these rngs attach to the headlight housing. I dont see any clips in the kit for this.

One of the rings just burnt out after having it installed for 5 days. I just want to know how I would go about ordering another ring. The one that's burnt out seems to be purplish.

I apologize to those of you who feel you waisted your money previously. Were it 100% up to me, I would leave the value of YOUR product at $149, and make this new kit $175 or $200 - but, unfortunately, competitors in this market have greatly de-valued the product to be a dime-a-dozen item. Long gone are the days when you can say "Those are WheelPower Phosphyre Halos... enhanced" and have everyone at the meet go "Oooh." You can thank the competition for that. We have no choice but to keep up with other people's ridiculously low prices :cry:

yea... i mean.. leigsburg has one now.. their "version 2" and checked out some pics that they had on their site... 7000K in color... pretty bright... with remote for a little over 100 i think.. pretty good.. i'm sure they'll be more competition between sponsors :D

And where did you run the wires that come off the halos? Like, how did you run them out of the headlight housing.
Also, where did you mount the balasts?

Run the wires out the rubber boot behind the highbeam (then fold it back over)
Mount the ballast under the radiator support bar, which runs along the top of each headlight.

I have one prob with that.... Because oh my CAI, I had to relocate my xenon balast box down under the headlight. So i really cant pull the headlight out because I cant get to the xenon balast without removing the front bumper. Ugh, what a pain in the @ss.

Is it a pain to run those wires out of the highbeam with the headlight still in the car?

For my enhanced dde, kit that i just recieved, are the black and white wires on the ballast supposed to come uncrimped?
If so, i need to buy myself some crimps and crimp them, however whcih wire goes to which, does the black go to the red or brown?

did you get crimps on the ballasts? on the white and black wires ? crimps as in .. not the threaded wire, but a connector.

also if you cant wait for the connector, just stab the pin into the other connector, and elec tape it for now..

There are no connectors on the black and white wire - I told you guys this kit has no plug and play connectors - just solder them or use some connectors from radio shack :)

I can send replacement parts if you need them. Or you can cut and use your own connectors.

WTF!

Everything was a breeze.... but i'm stuck on the halo's.

They just dont seem to fit that great. The halo that goes around the xenon housing.... it sits all angled. I dont even know how to explain it. The bottom of the halo sticks out farther than the top. Looks like crap. HELP! :hmm:

Looks hot as hell..... took a spin and got mad looks everywhere i went.

Very simple install.... besides thinking the rings weren't sitting rite. It took me prob 40 minutes. But :hmm: for about an hour tryin to figure out why the rings didn't sit int he headlight housing correctly. But once i put the headlight back together, they looked fine. :thumbup:

Hard to explain exactly. When I clipped the halos onto the headlight housing... The halo that went around the xenon side of the light just seemed not to lay on there correctly. When the halo was clipped on, the top of the halo sat in more and the bottom seemed to stick out toward the front of the car. While the headlight was still apart, it just didn't look right. Eventually I said F*ck it and just put the headlights back together with the halos like that. :hmm: BUT, once the headlights were back together it looked perfect. So i guess it was just because the headlight assembly was still apart.
Great product! They look tight as hell... very bright too. And absolutely cake to install. )the remote too!

Cut off the ends on the red&brown wires. Then just get butt-connectors, put them on, then crimp them together.

I just got the new "reflective backing" halos. I wonder if people will get pissed if I call them V3 :rofl:

Hey Jlevi, I had one quick question. I purchased the $90 enhanced DDE's and you stated it had reflective backing. What's the difference between my reflective backing and the new halos reflective backing? Will mine eliminate the eye ball effect? If not, can I purchase the backing for mine?
