Whats up!
Well my question is what is the dia size of piping for the ss headers.
Also did you follow that size of piping through out to the muffler.
What did everybody use? I was thinking of using 2-1/2" from the headers to the muffler. opinions Please.
thanks for the help
Hey man,
I don't think it is much matters the diameter of the headers but I would recommend running 2.75" or 3" from the headers back if you are doing a custom setup. The stock piping is 2.25" so going to 2.5" is probably not that much different. Also if you are planning cats the larger piping will give you less of a restriction thru the cat. The only thing you will need is possibly the stock flange on just the connection to the header then they can go bigger from there. I would stongly recommend getting cats, you can look at vibrant or magnaflow and have them welded in vs an overpriced racing cat from SS or RdSport.
Omes.

thanks Omes
What size do you have running back?
I like the way you have your set up with the vibrant cats. I think i'm going to go the same root as well.
Did you have to drill extra holes for the mounting of the headers. I heard that from someone else on this board.
Thanks

P.s where can I get Vibrant cats from. (any place)
Well my setup is a little different than most. I have the SS headers, SS X-pipe ( with the vibrant high flow cats welded into the X-pipe ), SS rear resonator and SS muffler. My exhaust shop had to modify the "X" in the x-pipe to move it behind the cats. There is some benefit to having an X-pipe read this:
http://e30m3performance.com/tech_articles/engine-tech/x-pipe/x-pipe.htm
http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/69238/
I wanted to optimize my exhaust system and instead of straight piping it and making my exhaust system 2 into 1 I had them modify the X-pipe.
I purchased the vibrant hi flows from Mopac Auto Supply in Calgary. They were very inexpensive and my exhaust setup (SS x-pipe, vibrants, and labour) was considerably less expensive than the SS racing or RdSport Cats.
I have the ss headers->high flow cats->custom T304 2.5" piping->Eisenmann. Works well :)

WOW Omes
thanks that was very very interesting to read about.
So omes you put the x pipe before the cats. Is that wright?
also what size of piping did you use.
I will do i search to find your pics on this from before.
Question- so why does our cars not come with this x pipe and the m3 does?
is it because of the amount of power they make.
