SC'd e46 M3 battles Supra TT - Video

Race Details:
Supra - Japanese Right-hand drive on stock turbo's boosting its max @ 20psi. No cats and full exhaust
Supra: 410rwhp 400+ft lbs of torque
M3: 460rwhp 300+ ft lbs torque
Supra Weight: ~3400lbs
M3 Weight: ~3120lbs

Race Results:
From a 2nd gear roll, we were both even on the jump. Even though he out torques me, the UUC LTW flywheel really comes into play http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif
I was only able to start pulling in the middle-top of 3rd gear and pulled harder all of 4th. Even though the Supra is down about 50rwhp, he has much more torque and his power band is broader than mine - gotta love turbo!
The 3rd gear 70mph roll is where the M3 really did well. We were both about even off the jump but i began to pull him earlier and by the end of 3rd i was about .5 car length ahead. Once i hit 4th the M3 continued to pull.
The 3rd gear 60mph pull (his power band) was abit different. The Supra would pull about 1/4 of a car and I would pull even at the end of third and then start walking him all of 4th.

---I posted the specifics of the race b/c it is hard to tell what exactly is going on in the high gears b/c of the camera car's position.

It was a great "race" night and the Supra owner was very cool. I realize that his car is "basically" stock and he has alot of room to work with.

Nive vid.

You can get 1000 Hp out of any car. You start to run into alot of reliability issues though.

Anyone that has a 500+hp supra has broken many things.

ahh the supras.. gotta love 'em!!! good run though on the M3's part.. i kinda miss my mkIV tt.. i had similar mods to what that supra had maybe a tad more but my turbo's were going out... 80K miles.. and still put down 440whp.. spend 10K on a turbo upgrade and some fuel and you're OFF!!

Believe me i know, i have had first hand experience with them, my friends is 1200HP right now, i was in it with only 800 and the thing blew my mind :thumbup:

Well 1200 is so insane my friend is about to sell it LOL!! He said his 800 was hard to handle and he is an AMAZING driver man, the car scared the shi! out of me at 500 RWHP roughly 600HP and just kept building it more and more, he finally sent it to Japan for a full rebuild and 6 months later or so 1200 HP, now it sits in his garage in pieces because he still likes to rebuild and do even more and doesnt drive it lol, he's a nut! RX7's are nice man, i rather have a supra though :dunno: :thumbup:

Let me shed some light comming from a supra owner, Something is not adding up with this vid/story. J-Spec supras cannot boost 20psi for a couple reasons. J-spec supras have ceramic turbos and smaller injectors vs the US version with stronger turbos and 550cc injectors. All I am saying is, it is tough to make those kind of numbers on a J-spec supra without the following mods(which are not mentioned): ECU or AFC, injectors, fuel pump, and US-spec turbos or larger. Good run though non the less. :str8pimpi

BTW, 800+hp is not as easy to make as it seems...Takes alot of time and $ if you want it done right. I know because mine is in the works right now. :shhh:
