Whats entailed in having a seperate oil system for a supercharger? I looked at AA's, it looks like a little resevoir, an in-line filter (where to get?) and the lines. But, how does the oil get pumped? Or is there some sort of vacuum that the blower creates? Help needed!

why would you want a seperate oil system or your s/c? :dunno:

All Rotrex based SC kits utilize an separate oil system for the superchargers lubrication and cooling. One reason is that the centrifugal type supercharger features a unique traction drive which utilizes fixed ratio planetary rollers that are more efficient then traditional gear-wheels..thus requiring a closed oil circulation system that cycles a specially-formulated Traction Oil.

Another reason is the installation. Since it does not require integration into the factory oil system of the engine, the installation process for the the S/C is simplified and will not direct effect the engine oil.

Does a seperate oil system need an oil pump? I don't see oil pumps in the AA rotrex kits.

The supercharger unit itself is the pump.

so your saying all ASA, Vortech, and ProCharger based S/C kits use the engine's oil supply and the Rotrex based S/C's use their own oil supply?

how often does the Rotrex S/C oil need to be changed?

I cant speak with 100% certainty on the other kits, but most of them use the engine'si oil supply, which will requires you to tap into it as part of the installation process. Im not going to say that his is a bad thing, because in certain aspects its good...but that all depends on the kit and how it is designed. Of course, not having too tap into the engine's oil supply is also a good thing....

just my $0.02
