Looking over e46psi.com ... and M3s with AA Supercharger, why am I not seeing performance of 440HP or about as described (even with boost over 5.5 as 440HP SC system promises)
2003 M3 with AA SC 1 + 7.5psi WI Cooled = 416 rwhp
http://www.e46psi.com/members/11/index.html
2002 M3 with AA SC Stage I + 5.5 psi, C38-71 Rotrex Blower = 371rwhp
http://www.e46psi.com/members/6/index.html
Now I have the second kit in the making (5.5 psi, C38-71 Rotrex Blower) ... I just hope i will have something more than 371hp... after being promised 440.
:hmm:

cause the 440 hp advertised is not to the wheels, its crank.

What do you mean? How can HP be measured/go not to the wheels? What crank?
So stock M3 is 333rwhp? :hmm:

That horsepower is at the engine, not to the rear wheels. After going through the tranmission and some other power transfer systems, you lose some HP, I think the general figure is about 20%.

18 % is the drivetrain loss of hp to be more exact

Found a good chart here:

With the AA SC you good for at least an extra 100rwhp. Stock M3's typically dyno btw 265-280 rwhp from all the numbers I have seen. Headers and a good race exhaust will add to the gains. I you are prepared to open your wallet I think cams would be the next upgrade.

the M3 drivetrain will take about 18% of the hp the engine makes from the wheels... so the AA kit makes 440 hp at the engine... then remove 18% of that and thats the hp your truly able to use for performance...
most of the guys on e46psi have NON-STANDARD kits... meaning AA's standard kit makes 440 hp at the engine... but these guys are running higher "boost" and using other mechanisms such as water/alchohol injection into the aftercooler or nitrous injection into either the aftercooler or intake manifold.. they also have associated fuel system upgrades to support the car with the additional power...
AA makes these kits custom for the owner and charge a lot more money than the standard 440 hp kit... the long term reliability of these custom kits are not measured and engine and drivetrain damage is generally not covered by any legally binding warranty... at owners risk...
you should do extensive research on S/C on an M3 before going that route... its not simple and risks are great...

For now I am going with normal AA S/C 5.5PSI system with Injection cooling. I hear those are safe. I am not too worried. :dunno:
