hey someone said they decided against an sc
because 2 of her friends blew up their engines with an sc :yikes:
she of course said that she didnt mean it would happen to me,
but now i am having 2nd thoughts (since i cannot afford a new engine)
how often does this occur? what are the chances it could happen
and what conditions does it occur? ie normal driving possible? (with a little racing)
or is it mainly track/redlining and crap?
TIA

if your engine blows it'll give you a good reason to drop in a M3 motor :yikes:
To the original poster:
Read ALL the threads by MrPaddleShift and then come back. On a sidenote, S/C-ing isn't for the p<sp>ussy-hearted, you need to have more than basic knowledge on how engines run.

do you have any reccomendations on books ro read?

you can take notes from e46fanatics and write your own book. Other than needing a new clutch, and watching for oil temp. and pressure, I say go for it. Just make sure you get a system with an intercooler and buy a oil cooler to be on the same side.

The stock clutch should be fine until 320-340hp.. beyond that you will need a performance clutch.

This SC is tried and true. It is very possible to blow up an engine with one, but at the same time, if you following the warnings, it is very easy to avoid any damage.
For instance, the power hungry may turn the boost up to 20 LBS to win the big street race. Obviouslly that's insta-kablooey. Just read the warnings and you'll be straight

ok thanks for the insight guys, i hope to be joining you in the FI community around the holidays.
anyone know a good place to buy perf clutches and oil coolers?
(how important is an oil cooler?)
and do most systems come with an IC? sorry if this has been covered, im relatively new to e46 and brand new to the world of FI

oil cooler is needed... without it, youre gona notice how fast the oil temp rises.
