View Full Version : Turbonetics Silicone Elbow Installed | ASA SK1

For those of you who have the ASA kit you know the flex tube right before the compressor leaves much to be desired. It works but it just doesn't seem to offer the most durability and the smoothest air flow from its material/design. The silicone elbow is completely smooth inside and out. Sturdy but still flexable and its fiber reinforced so its strong. Sporthoses.com has the samco elbow listed but they never have anything instock. I also wasn't a big fan of the bright blue color either that they only "stock". I finally decided to order the elbow from Turbonetics. Alittle more money ($75 shipped from Nopi.com) but its instock at alot of online retailers and comes in blue, red and black
Here's what the elbow looks like. You need the 2 3/4 90 degree elbow. You need to cut about an inch off for it to fit perfectly.

Here it is installed. Matches the rest of the kit perfectly :)

I've searched high and low for a place that had this instock and not once did i think of ATP for some reason. They also never came up in any of my searches on the net :banghead:
No biggie...I guess I'll just think of it as I got the designer brand version of it lol
Good find though. Now others will know where to order from

Now question for you guys. When i took off my stock flex tube, it was sorta saturated with motor oil. Is this normal? I mean its not to the point where its leaking or that I need top off on oil but its there. It would guess that its coming from the bypass valve that hooks up closest to the manifold.

Alan, Ive got a place that can make anything, probably for less than a turbonetics offering. Perhaps we need to spec out a complete hose replacement kit...

It's suppose to be a bit oily cos of the PCV blowby.
The boys at TE and myself discussed about a catch can a while back. I ended up testing out a oil vapor filter device (quite like those oil catch can, but not exactly). So far, from my 3 track events and daily driving, I have filtered out about 2 shots of oil. I will write more about this in up coming weeks. But don't go out and get the catch cans just yet.

damn alan. You didn't waste anytime installing that thing. Very nice!
whats everyone else's feeling on replacing the lower flex tube with a silicone one? Spoke with Samir about it a while back and he suggested replacing the elbow, but said that it really wasn't necessary to replace the lower tube.
Wonder if i could get my dinan CF intake tube to fit? No one seems to want it, so mabye i'll cut it up.....Someone better buy this thing!

i think this is something i have to do as it appears that my headlight may be rubbing against it. we replaced the lower flex tube, but for the long run a silicone hose is just what i need. thanks!

Looks Good Alan. Regarding the lower flex tube, go to a muffler shop and have them custom bend you a piece. I did it on my ESS setup.

KromeX, what is your situation with your turbo kit? You don't come out to meets no more and there hasn't been updates on your ATP turbo kit.

Building my motor and lowering compression. Did the wrong thing by pulling the motor out first and then ordering the parts. Got sent the wrong rods and now just waiting for new ones to arrive.

It was nice chattin with you too epeart :)
Took the car out for a quick drive. Feels good. When i'm not on it (vacuum mode), the usual "shhhhh" sound seems alittle quieter but then when I am on it and shift, the "pshhh" sounds more defined.
Besides getting the lower hose done, i'm also going to look into upgrading some of the critical hose clamps.
Thats if from me this week. I'm off to the Virgin Islands

I recommend the T-Bolt type clamps.

If you replace any soft hose with a more rigid or even metal pipe, the pshh sound will get even louder.

you have software to run with those injectors? What number you installin? No software yet. I'm using 24lbs Tecknik spec for their software when it lands on the EastCoast :craig: The DME will adjust to it Plus the ASATronic to adjust .it will run rich low untill I get the software but better rich than lean.

But Mr. PaddleShift uses 22Lbs in his 325 and the upgrade kit uses 24lbs so I'm giving it a shot I have a friend with a N/A 323 using 24lbs with no problems I got them from this web site www.SprayItRacing.com

Definitely keep me posted.
Btw, you will need to source for some spacers for the fuel rail. Bosch injectors sit a little higher than the Siemens.

nice write up. I already replaced most of the clamps on the boost side, you'll prob end up spending around $80 or so to do it. I went with constant-torque at first, but they were too bulky, so go with the t-bolt. Also make sure you don't go too thick on the bands or the clamps won't fit in the little divits on the end of the pipes.
As for the longer intake hose, i just wrapped it with a bunch if electric tape (still looks good too), just don't tape the ends where you clamp. The hose was rubbing a little on the headlight too (balast is moved) and this seem to prevent any wearing on the hose...
I went with these guys with the clamps:
http://www.partssystems.com/index.html
I had no idea ATP sold clamps and hoses :banghead:
BTW i get oil residue all over too, but not enough oil gets sucked out to warrant much loss, i never got a low oil warning or anything, and I check my oil level time to time. Like everyone said it's coming from the crank case hose, my hose (silicone) is actually starting to discolor a little from it, but from I read little bits of oil shouldn't hurt the hose any.

The injectors came in this morning  Funny how the box say's Ford Racing Performance Parts. They are color coded baby blue part # M 9593 A302 Bosch injectors on the injector it self it has the Bosch logo and Ford logo.

I spoke to Technik about sourcing my own injectors, (my shop that is going to do my inj/sw upgrade offered to take my stock ones in trade), he advised me against it. Reason being the injectors Technik is going to be providing are going to be flow matched. I have heard that injectors can vary from one to another and what Technik said makes sense. :dunno: Any comments?
