View Full Version : ESS SC DIY Question...
Will be installing a used ESS V2SQ 8psi unit on my 99 328i shortly using this excellent DIY www.my330i.com/mod22.php#A
Kit originally came off a 330 and then was on a 325...but will fit my ride and is complete kit with adapter etc..
Any tips\tricks would be appreciated by anyone whom has done this install or similar >> ie bypass valve hook-up\splitter, boost guage vacuum hookup install etc..

Why did it hop so many cars before yours?

My advice to you is take your time when doing this install and remember NOT to pump too much air into the fuel rail. If you do, the hose in the gas tank will come off. I learned it teh hard way. Just follow MarvelPhx's DIY.
They parted out their cars for trade\sale..

Good to know.. I have a compressor avail that I can regulate output..so I will definately set it to exactly 45psi.. as per MarvelPhx's DIY..
Anyone know if I pull Fuse 54 and run it out of gas..this will accomplish same thing?? :dunno:

I don't like it when I don't explain an answer, sorry about that post above...
The reason you don't want to run the injectors dry by emptying the tank is not the injectors, but the fuel pump... They don't like to run dry based on how they operate and maintain their priming. When you pressurize the fuel rail, you are forcing the gas back through the return line and valve, not the pump. And you don't want too much pressure or you can dislodge that assembly in the pump section. Keep it at about 45psi. You may need a little more (if the fuel sprays from the schrader valve when you apply air, you don't have enough air pressure) to get it done.
Thanx Marvel..if I get sprayed in the face with gas..I'll pump up the air pressure a bit... :) I'll regulate it on my compressor and see what I need..I def DONT wanna drop the tank to re-install pipe...

Don't even take the chance of getting sprayed, wrap the valve in a shop rag if you need to and wear safety glasses. Your eyes are more important than any car...
I was j\king..
I've been techie for awhile..& learned to always take the safety precautions necessary as primary...

That's fine, but in case someone else reads this, it's not a joking matter. Gasoline is flammable, toxic, and caustic. Not to be played with.
