Radio Interface: Connects behind radio, require radio to be removed but no cabling needs to be run.
Trunk Interface: Uses CD Changer connection in trunk, does not require radio to be removed.
Active Cradle: "Docking Station" for iPod, requires Pro Clip for mounting or a flat surface.
Docking Cable: Small iPod Connector - allow for "stealth" install, such as eurotray, glovebox or sunglass holder.

Tom: the active cradle also functions in 'charging' one's iPod? The Docking Cable does not?
In addition, since I have a OEM Navi screen how difficult is the 'running' of the cable? Err, where do I run it (the cable) to (oh wait-the iPod right!)?
How visible is the cable (since my E46 is pre-wired for the CD changer).
Cheers!

The Dock Cable and Active Cradle offer the same features, the Active Cradle just "shocases" the ipod for you and offers a sturdy mount. Cable visibility depends on installation, usually you only see about 3-4".

For the trunk installation where do I run the cable through (do I remove part of the carpet?)
How much do charge for installation (trunk)?
Any pictures demonstrating cable visibility?
Cheers!

It will work as a holder, but not charge or provide any other interface for the iPod.
to be perfectly honest, the Pro Clip Mounts/Holders may be what you are looking for. You will need the vehicle specific mount and iPod holder for a complete solution.

Is there a difference in purchasing the dension ice>link plus from this group buy versus Best Buy besides the price? $179 versus $199?
Just want to know since there's a 10% coupon (http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/en_US/images/external/emailpdf/Best%20Buy%20Coupons.pdf) online for Best Buy.
May pick up an ice>link plus this weekend if it's the same. Please let me know.

Same kit, however this is for the Trunk interface (not sure if you are looking for radio version) and includes the Active Cradle. If you do not reside in CA, you will save sales tax as well.
Things to keep in mind before ordering!

Looks like the same kit at Best Buy too with Active Cradle. See here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7049384&type=product&id=1108124556237).

I would get it from Dension since they're the site sponsor here, but if we can't get 40 people by the end of the month, I guess that leave me/us no choice but to get it at BestBuy..

Quick question, I looked at the Best Buy description, and they say you can cycle through 5 play lists. I was under the impression that you can have more than that. Was I mistaken? Also, the ID tags will be shown on the Business CD screen correct? Thanks for any light shed on this!

Fedex called when I was at work... I was able to hold him there and quickly drive home
Took me a long time to find the hidden cables behind the HK AMP (while the cover kept falling on my back)...
After that it was easy breezy.... I am now happy and gonna go for a sweet dream

Hi Tom
I just received mine today. Thanks for the GB and quick service.
I notice the my version number is V2.02. And I heard the newest version for NAV should be V2.07. Is there a way to update the firmware? What has change between V2.02 and 2.07?

There's 2 things you can do.
1) don't enable text and reamin using 2.B1
2) If you would like to see text (keep in mind - still in beta for NAV vehicles), you must downgrade to v2.07 - this can be done on your end. Email me and I will give you instructions on how.

Hi Tom
I just received mine today. Thanks for the GB and quick service.
I notice the my version number is V2.02. And I heard the newest version for NAV should be V2.07. Is there a way to update the firmware? What has change between V2.02 and 2.07?

You're looking at the sticker on the bottom of the ILP module, which is the hardware version. You should have 2.B1 as well, this can be verified by looking atr the top right hand corner of the iPod screen during the warning message when connected to the ice>Link Plus.

Hi Tom
I just installed the ice>link, everything went smoothy. And yes, I do have firmware version 2.B1. I now have a few questions, I hope you can give me some ideas:
1. From other thread in this forum, I though 2.B1 is not for cars with NAV, is this true? If I have NAV, what is going to go wrong? If true, should I go back to a compatiable version?
2. So far, I have had time to play with it too much, but it seem that the ice>link menu is different than the one in the user manual on dension website. The menu has less items. I wonder if this is because I have NAV?
3. So is ID3 tag availabe for NAV through update? I ask because I have seen both YES and NO from you and Dension website. So should I go the update for ID3?
Thank you for your time and support.

Firmware v2.B1 will work with cars with NAV, but only until text support is activated. Once text is activated, the menu disappears from the iPod and is trying to be written to an area that does not exist (non-NAV radio). This is why I suggest not running 2.B1 with NAV vehicles.

This is because everything has been moved to the MID screen.

ID3 for NAV is available, but is still in Beta. If you plan on using NAV with the ice>Link Plus, the ID3 will overwrite the maps on the screen.
