So I'm trying to figure out if SCing my car is really worth it. I drive a 2003 step 325i, and by the end of the summer I should have enough money to buy the supercharger. I've always wanted the extra power, but I'm not sure if at this point it is worth it.

In just under three years, I'll be handed the keys to a 2005 or 2006 545i, which my dad will be buying for himself within the next year. After I graduate college, I get the car. This is why I'm not sure supercharging my car is worth it.

From what I've read up so far, you can't really make up any of the money, and you run the risk of both hurting your car and voiding parts of your warrenty. Although I haven't read up about it enough, I'm sure there are a ton of costs associated with the install of the SC plus the extra parts that people are always recommending. Also, I know a lot of people have their autos supercharged, but is it really worth it on a step 325i?

Any advice would be appreciated. Also, has anyone heard of possibly SCing the new 5 series?

You should not have a problem S/C ing your car as far as your transmission go.The people with automatic transmission problems are only on 330's pushing near 300 whp, the limit of the transmission. If you are looking for a kit with very good bang for buck then i would get a SK+ with software. Very easy install, you could even DIY if you want. You would probably have to have a shop flash the new software unless you have a laptop and OBD II cable. I know that the 525 and 530 have the same M54B30 and M54B25 engines as the 3 series. This will probably change in the '06 models. They will get the newer, valvetronic, engines. Also, the 545 will be a 550. No hopes of S/Cing that new of an engine for a while, sorry.
