SUPERCHARGE A 325I ?
Im thinking about droping 5 G's on a supercharger. Does anyone know of a better way to spend that on other things for the engine.

oops he said things on engine....
cams, headers, intake, exhaust, SSK everything you can get for 5k...ur best bet is to blow it to get the most you are going to get out of a 325

You wont get nearly as much power doing N/A things to the engine. Supercharge that biotch!!

yeah, i have a 325i and love my car to death and puting on a S/C always runs through my mind but then i decide not to because why would you spend that much on something when you could just sell the car and use the money you were gonna spend on it and buy an M3 with about the same power... if i were to start showing my car in competitions and got some sponsors then id consider it but for now its just not practical...
I'd probably spend the money on some decent rims, coils, new front bumper, differential if its stick, chip, intake, exhaust, tint, and other random stuff that'll make it look nice. 325's are just on the slow side and even blowing it won't give you very respectable power. I'd be over trying to get it going fast. just make it look nice.

For a sleeper, worth it. Otherwise use the extra cash for a down payment for a M3 and still have your warranty.

Its all very hypothetical if you ask me.
You could have a 325i and you could FI that. So after FI, what comes along?
More boost, lower compression. Then? Presumably you go all out. And you arrive at a certain power level.
Then you tell yourself, a guy that bought a 330i and did what you did will still be faster, in the same car!
And the guy in tne 330i will think, sh1t, ive spent all this money but a M3 that did the same things will go faster than me. Sure, i know each car is more expensive from start but if your goal is to chop m3's, you best start with a M3 or the bills will be high and u will be unsatisfied.
I figure if i buy the fastest possible model given that body design, and i work on that, no one is faster than me, in my e46, given street driven or etc etc.
You get my point right?
So either ways, the 325i and 330i engine is the same design right? Correct me if im wrong.
Shorter stroke? Different head?
Either way, FI is good. Infinitas makes some good kits!

I agree with k3nny, and I'll add a few thoughts.
The real question is what will you do with the extra power? If you're going to track or autox your car and you don't care about warranty then it might make sense. Otherwise, if it's just more power for the highway and administering the occasional but kicking to a G35 or an A4 then you're probably better off using the $5k towards a 330i or an M3.
Of course, you could just want to make an individual statement and have something different than the masses. And no doubt there's something cool about having a sleeper 325i. Nothing wrong with that either.
Like some of the others said, sort out what you want out of the car and then decide how to spend the money. $5k will go a long way on other mods.

I say go for it. Power is always nice, just use it responsibly.

I just had this same dilemma on my 328i.. started with the usual mods.. CAI, SSK, Software, Diff.. etc.. if you stop and add up the cost after this.. it is ALMOST too late to turn back..sure you can part out\buy a 330.. but you'll get peanuts on your used stuff..so I decided..rather then start all over with an M3, loan, mods etc.. I would just SC and keep it..NO regrets!!
At some point you have to decide what you want\like about a car and be happy with it.. you can't chase every fast car out there..because there is always a faster one being built...
