View Full Version : 8.7lbs of Boost = Fun

I use to get this slight hesitation right around 6K rpm and the hp seems to fall off after that. Over the weekend, I adjusted the asatronic from 9.5 turns to about 9.25 and the hesitation was gone. The car pulled strong all the way up to 6500rpm (upshifting 1st-3rd gear) where my Greddy (electric) boost gauge recorded .6 bar of peak boost which equals to about 8.7psi :yikes:
I use to consistantly get .5 bar even shifting at 6K. I'm wondering if my gauge is off alittle. :hmm: All I know is that the car drives awesome and its CEL free so I can't complain!
BTW i'm running the standard ASA pulley :shhh:
Those of you still debating if the power of a supercharger is worth it, it is! It has made my car 1000x more fun to drive around. The power, the sound  Still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it

nice news alan...you gonna get a new dyno soon? i'd like to see a dyno to see what kind of power 8.7gives
 so tempting...
Alan, does ASA make a software that would increase the redline to 7000?

That i'm not sure but I can rev to 7K since i have the shark injector still loaded in there. Personally i wouldn't rev it that high though. If i'm getting 8.7lbs at 6500rpm, i can't imagine if i shifted at 7K :yikes: The stock head feels like its maxed out even before the SC when i go above 6700rpm. The car use to feel like its running out of air by 7K so i made it a habit to shift at 6500ish max.
Fooking awesome  Where's that dyno sheet? ;)

With the old FMIC i had similar readings (we have the same boost gauge). If i shifted at 6800 rpms, I hit about .6 kg/cm2. 6k rpms usually put me a nudge under .5 kg/cm2.
After testing the new FMIC some more, 6000 rpms gets me at about .45 kg/cm2 and 6800rpm hits about .5kg/cm2 (7.1 psi). Which is still over the 6.5 we're supposed to get so no worries. BTW After long trips the new FMIC is cold too http://forum.e46fanatics.com/images/smilies/2thumbs.gif, no signs of any heat soak...
I shift at 6k rpms for now, since my Wideband AFR says i'm a little lean up top (13.1 - 13.3).
One thing i found is that if you mess with the ASATronic, you'll see some short term gains (run a little richer), but as the car adapts to the changes everything will go back to how it was. I.E. AFR/Fuel trims etc.

Hey solid,
I agree, I occaisionally dial my asatronic down, drive around for a bit the put it back to where it was to "shock my ECU", the way the car drives is night and day after the "shock".
I was wondering if you notice any changes to your timing or spark plug advance after some "spirited" driving then at idle and checking the value. When i do this .....sluggish advance=3 LTFT=9-10%, better responsiveness=9 advance LTFT=5-7%. i am not as familiar with all of the parameters around this but curious how the ecu advances or retard ignition time with regards to LTFT and adaptations.

9.5 is even better :).
hahaha jk. Glad the hesitation is gone!

I did notice that lower ASAtronic settings cause poor throttle responce, but never looked at the timing with various settings.
Hopefully we can all throw the ASAtronic away soon :)

Yeah... why dont you guys get tuning and injectors? SKII has been out for a while now hasn't it? Luckily I never had ASA tronic or a RRFPR in my car..

We're all waiting on TE to confirm when they have all the neccessary parts to flash the ECU. (without the car actually being there) Any updates guys?

Rub it in why don't you :) I'm even unluckier than most and have the MS45, which isn't ready at all :(
