some questions here while im mentally preparing for my own ess v2 install here ....
1. was that dip stick parts as hard as it was made to sound?
2. how was putting on the belt? did u have any problems with it?
3. What preperations did u do prior? fluid changes? fan belt? ect ect
Dipstick install WAS PITA as MarvelPhx said it would be.. BE VERY careful to NOT over-tighten oil block bango bolt at oil press switch location..otherwise you'll strip the housing..
Belt install was pretty simple..just had to figure out what\where..kinda twisties around a few idlers.. Gonna buy a spare belt also..
I printed off the DIY pics from my330i.com..labeled them ie LL\GG in PS..then resized them and had print shop print in colour for a hard manual (unless you have a laptop avail on ur workbench)
Changed engine oil\filter.. DO NOT OVERFILL!!

hahaha took me a second to fugure out PITA but i get it now. yah, the SC install doesn't have me too worried, but i am really scratching my head about how to fit a front mounted IC onto this kit. i have't found a clear pic of other IC to tell if the front mounted IC had the inlet and outlet on the same side or not. doesn't seem to be a whole lot of room to be running 3 sets of 3" piping all over the place??? we might have to work together on this one for some ideas.
I'm game for that.. It'll be tricky to do..I'm just waiting for my ECU return from Norway this week with a few misc parts..hopefully it's ready to fire this weekend...
I found that the "oil" related stuff was the most PITA.. everything else, injectors, fuel rail, V2 mounting was simple.. maybe I need smaller hands.. :dunno:

Nice to see other fanatics doing the work themselves.
I'm not sure if its too late or if you've changed these parts already but since alot of the coolant hoses are out, you might want to change the following parts:
Water pump
Thermostat and the housing
Coolant expansion tank ( common for the plastic to crack and burst coolant over time)
Also consider changing to a fresh set up spark plugs if you haven't already :)
Thanx for the heads-up Alan>> did the plugs to NGK Iridiums>> Waterpump is still solid no play whatsoever..

Good job surk, it's good to see that you are almost done. Let us know what you think about the SC once it's running. By the way are you guys coming to MTL for Grand Prix weekend? It would be perfect timing for a meet.

I don't have tickets to see GP but even without them, there's so much going on downtown. It'll be amazing. Do you really need a place to stay?

My friend just offered me some tickets to see the pit lane and track tomorrow. If anything i think Friday (maybe Saturday) is M night, we'll probable see all the bimmer owners around that area.

cool dude, good luck with the rest of the install. Like i said before just to make sure you don't make the same mistake that i did. Don't go wild on the oil for the air filter. I think i actually might have to buy a new one now. $500 CAD :(
