You certainly can. There was a guy named Amar selling them from London a little while ago for about $400, but the mods booted him because he wasn't a "sponsor." Does anyone who bought one have his email address?

I believe it's just called an OBDII connector. I'm not sure how many pins are in the actual plug. It's a standard connector that was mandated for US bound cars after some point in time. BMW started doing it in '96 which is why the '95 and '96-'99 M3s have different engines and emmissions controls among other things.

Here is a generic one. Pretty cheap at $180. But the guy selling the one on the board was BMW specific.

Pretty Cool, But does this interface allow you to do such things as reprogramme car after xenons have been retrofitted or nav retrofit etc.

or do you have to use the bmw interface to do that sort of stuff

Thanks

you have to have a bmw tool for that, and it is not a version of obd-ii

its not, so there is 2 computers in the car, one for diagnostics porposes etc, and another one for for configuring car etc
