Im doing this for a friend of mine .
So please let me know your input.
If there was a choice other than Dinan S/C kits that was smog legal would you buy it for 6500.00 dollars.

I've posted numerous times before but one more time doesn't hurt too much...
other than Dinan, there is NO CARB legal aftermarket bmw s/c.
ASA, AA, ESS, VF, etc. are all not CARB legal at the moment, although I hear ASA and VF are both trying to get it certified.
the ASA stage2 and the AA are both around the $6500 retail range if I'm not mistaken. So for it to be priced that much, CARB legal or not, it would have to have about the same power output.

The blower itself is CARB certified by Vortech, that number was given the California's MVD and was good to go.

But doesn't the certifiication requires testing on the entire system, not just the compressor? Meaning that a compressor maybe CARB certified on certain a model, but the same compressor may not be on another model? So technically, if one changes the ECU mapping, it is required to reapply for a different CARB certification. Perhaps you can shed more light on this.

That is probably true ^^^, I am just saying that California MVD accepted it and gave it registration.

seriously though, you are kinda reading too deep into it. i take marvelphx's word for it. the fact that your post count is low doesn't help you build a good rep by mouthing off on people. your location is alaska, how do u know so much about CA laws anyhow?
