confused on this quick question

sorry if this is a really stupid Question BUT ive been told that the standard tv\navigation lcd tv in m3s etc cannot be made to play dvds

really confused on why, as in it can just bout do everything else :dunno:

People have installed DVDs and others have gone as far as hooking up full car computers that use the stock buttons and controls on the Nav unit. If all you want is DVD and don't want to get your hands dirty, there are a few companies that make exactly what you're looking for. Be prepared to spend about $1000 or so, though. I believe some of these vendors are TvOnNav.com and NavTV.com, or something like that. They may have dashes in those web addresses somewhere. If you can't find them let me know and I'll get you the exact addresses.

There are some people doing some "hack" on the OEM Nav computer to make it play DVD's; when it is going to be ready -if it will work at all- is undetermined... http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=74266
