I did a search but no info. Someone had posted that aftermarket cats got rid of his rasp. Any ideas?

is this for an M3?? If so, UUC has a rasp-X, "rasp reducing" midpipe....However it costs 1g lol....Go to a muffler store, and tell them weld a series of resonators on 2 straight pipes...will probably have the same effect for a 1/2 of the price.

Boosted 330 not M3, I tried resonators still raspy

I love the rasp especially at high rpms :)

Standard resonator should do the trick. But why change it :mischief:

My rasp is very special... :P
Ask anyone that has heard it, they think nuts and bolts are loose in my exhaust. It is SO loud it is embarrasing. I would not mind a little rasp but man is it bad...
I got all worked up and installed my ASAtronic and AFPR. (Did I mention I have little patience?) I will run the car with videos on the street in front of the shop. When you hear it you'll understand. I was thinking of running my TSE3... little rasp but sounds like open pipes :mischief: Luckily we have long straight industrial roads all around us so a WOT run is easy to make.

I just went through the same thing with the Z4, headers + straight pipe. Installed 2 resonators with an Xpipe and now it's more tolerable, but still raspy.

If you want to get rid of all of it, but keep it throaty, you'll need 2 resonators and some sort of muffler, like a Supersprint or Remus (quiet type systems).

Do you got any pics of the xpipe setup?

No pics, but it was custom stuff done with some pipe bending equipment and a welder (nothing super complex).

I was actually curious about the order of the piping and the placement of the x-pipe.

i.e. i've read about x-pipe setups that were before or after the cats.

I think Omes has it setup Headers->cats->x-pipe->muffler
Is that the same order as your setup?

Thanks for the help, the TSE3 has bigger piping and 6 resonators total. I am going to install it tomorrow and have the rear pair of resonators swapped out for a muffler. I can use the TSE3 rear resonators (mufflers) on my showroom wall anyway.

BTW What size injectors should I buy in anticipation of sending my ECU to you guys? What is the prospect of a smaller pulley / injector / ECU combo?

TIA

Walter

We'll provide the right injectors for you.

B4 the S/C install I ran headers > x-pipe > resonators > Magnaflow muffler. I got a tremendous amount of rasp at the x-pipe so I had it removed. It did get much better but it was still pretty bad. Hopefully I will post WOT runs with the "stock" TSE3 then modified with a muffler...

Sweet........ I will probably call tomorrow to order an oil cooler as well....

I have no cats...just headers, then straight through with custom piping. The sound was without a doubt ridiculous above 3000RPM, so I had 2 resos welded in with a custom crossover pipe. It lopped off about 75% of the rasp, but kept the throaty tone. I don't have plans to run cats, since this car is mostly for tracking.

What rasp? :dunno: Is it close to that of the M3? I have never experienced it. If it is close to that of the F430, that would be nice to have. :D

Walter, I thought TSE3 and SS Headers were loud as a NASCAR? :P

That Technik Oil Cooler is very well put together. I think you should paint the brackets to black though. :P You will enjoy it!

My shop custom installed E36 M3 resonators on my car, and it sounds perfect. Loud as hell with headers/cams, but basically no rasp.

F430 rasp is nice, not rice. Mine is rice :( The TSE3 and SS headers are LOUD that's why I am having the rear resonators replace with a muffler, probably a Remus.

If I had 6 more cylinders the rasp would be much different IMO!

I have Technik Headers + no Cats + custom piping from the headers to the remus muffler, and one resonator on each pipe between the muffler and headers.

 Welcome to the dark side! I have that same setup and its PERFECT! Can't say enough about the SS System. You will love it, it will be about as loud as an M3 with aftermarket exhaust. Good luck!

That is very close to my soon to be installed setup - Supersprint headers and dual tube race system, exhaust, but no resonator.
