I would like to learn more about Superchargers and I searched the forums for Superchargers and of course came up with alot of threads. Read thru a few of them but I'm hoping someone could simply:
a) explain the concept of Superchargers
b) what kits(manufacturers) are out there(& how to choose),
c) and what parts/weather/environment are necessary to have a fully functional working supercharger. Ex: Would it be recommended for someone to supercharge their vehicle if it's for everyday driving?
d) What are the alternatives to supercharging (I know it's in the $2k region). e) Should you perform other mods to your vehicle before stepping up to (or consider) supercharging? (would exhaust, intake, braking etc need to be modded before considering making that step?)
f) Is there a DIY?
g) Any downsides to supercharging?

BTW: I have a Facelift 03-325i. Please use this example as an example while explaining your answers. Thanks to everyone out there in advance.

This thread is simply to provide information to those like myself that are new to the modding world that would like to know about making a sleeper. So please no smart answers just really would appreciate some worthwhile information.

This question gets asked about once per week. A quick :search: will net you this (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=134610). Another :search: might find you this (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=287500). If you :search: even more you might find this (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=287467).

If you still can't find any information, I would look here (http://www.technikpower.com/), here (http://www.esstuning.com/), and finally here (http://www.activeautowerke.com/).
