Yep I think i might be keeping my baby. Can't let her go just yet :)

I was cleaning the car and i noticed that my air filter was covered in oil. I also noticed oil in the hose that connects the polished pipe to the back of the SC. I know installing oil catch cans is common in the JDM world and i'm looking to install one in my car before it messes up my MAF sensor with excess oil. Any ideas which hose is all this oil blowby most likey coming from?

My guess would be the top hose that connects from the stock pcv hose by the injectors going to the chrome pipe.

Sup alan. Where you been? Haven't seen you on IM in a while. Glad to hear you're keeping your baby! We've got to meet up one of these days!

We're actually working on one at the moment.

I installed a catch reservoir I put together for a while. Not exactly that aesthetically pleasing but occasionally I still get the "what-the-hell-is-this" look. There isn't that much oil to catch really, given my track records. But good to have.

The oil is coming from the crankcase vent hose. You can buy one of those nice Greddy oil catch cans for $80 or an ebay one for $20.

oh, and don't mean to get off topic, but isn't that a pic of your car in this ebay auction.....

They also have a high-capacity model:

Thanks guys. I'm still around but I just don't post nearly as much. Alittle more low profile nowadays :) I've been busy modding our new 9-2x snowboarding wagon to get it close to 300hp. Gotta love that wrx boxer turbo hehe. The bimmer only comes out during special occassions now.

Solid - Your talking about the upper black hose that connects to the chrome intake pipe right? The other end goes to the fuel injector area?

Also, would it be a good idea to clean the maf sensor? With what? Its running 100% fine now but i figure i might as well clean it. If the oil made its way to the filter, it must have passed through the maf.

Yup that's the hose. I wouldn't clean the MAF since it's so delicate and pretty expensive. If it's working fine now, and your AFR's are where they should be then leave it alone. Maybe clean or replace the air filter though.

Could someone post a picture of this oil catch pan setup? I noticed the same thing on my ESS setup and would love to do this install. Thanks

Is this a common problem with SKI that we should all be installing this for long term safety?

I am going to buy one of the oil catch cans right now. Anyone have a DIY or pics? I have an ASA SK1 Kit.

I would think any FI setup has this issue. It's good to have. The internal pipings are less oily. Like I said, it's not dumping oil by the jerry can load. Given my track addiction, up to date, I have only seen oil caught in the volume of about 1 shot. I hardly drain out the reservoir.

Have fun getting that to fit.

You should have purchased an inline one.

If you only want to trap a shot of oil look at the air-oil filters used for paint compressors at Lowes or Home Depot. They are about $22.00. Husky is the brand name. The filters are too fine though, so you need to take the filter off and drill through it with the smallest drill you have, about 15-20 holes.

Do you know which SC setup is this on? Also, is it on an e46? It looks very simple to do. It appears that this filter setup is tap to the hose connecting to the oil return line that go back to the dip stick.

That's my car. Custom CS setup. No, the filter taps inline with teh CRANK CASE vent line. The oil return line to the dipstick is JUST from the supercharger.
