Ive been trolling the forums and have seen some recomendations for the CDT EF-51 component speakers and the Elemental Design 9.4 amp. This would fit my budget. I had seen were Seth bought the CDT's but havent heard how he likes them. Any one else have comments on these speakers. There is a CDT store on ebay that has the EF-51 for $196 and the ED site has the 9.4 amp @ 150x 2 for $235. I am about to pull the trigger on this purchase but thought I would post this in case someone has a good reason not to buy these. At a later date I will box in the ski pass and add a Sub. I am using a Basslink right now.

I have CDT EF-61's in my coupe doors. Fits perfectly & is powered by a 2 channel ALpine V12 pushing 120rms to each component!!! I have no rear fill and just have 2 ten inch woofers in a trunk in a BSW box under the deck.
The system sounds GREAT!!! the silk tweeters are nice and smooth, the woofers can reach down pretty low and still sound clear. Great staging & I don't miss the rear speakers much with this setup!!!
CDT makes some great speakers!!!
IM: djdilliodon for a great price from an authorized dealer!!!

Yeah Id like to go with the larger size but don't want to run into problems fitting them in. I'll have to try djdilliodon again last time I checked the 5 1/4 were not available from him.

You won't run into problems fitting them at all... unless you have a sedan.
Just follow the DIY's for 6.5 inch speakers in the forums. Basically you trace around the old speaker... to use as a template for a new bracket. You then use the bracket to sandwhich your new speaker to the door.

What I've seen is that the 5 1/4 fit well but with the 6 1/2 I would need to do some cutting of the sheet metal. Either way I would plan on making up some MDF adapters and attaching to the door not the panel. I don't like the ideal of cutting but would do it. I'm just afraid of going through that and they still don't fit. I have a convertible and had a heck of a time finding were the amp was located. Don't need any more suprises.

I did not have to have any sheet metal cut to get them to fit. The doors on the coupe and the convertible should be pretty similar.
