i keep toying with the idea of getting a Cooper S and modding the :censor: out of it, but i'm not sure the real potential of this motor. What mods are out there? I've seen engine packages from Mini mania but don't know much about them.
Samir, so you have anything in the works for Mini's?
I know the handling is there but can this car be made into a real fast car; under 5 seconds to 60 with some good top end power? Can it run with a blown 330?

We have an upgrade in the works: pulley, ECU, GruppeM intake. Also cams as an option.

and headers too, i'd assume. What kind of gains are you seeing? Is it worth it? Can we really make this car fast?

We haven't started testing the kit, since we have other projects to complete first, but the boost up kit should be good for 30-35HP. With cams/headers another 20-25HP.
there is a company that sells a turbo kit for the mcs to use along with the supercharger.
I think its called SPI or something. Bascially, you have a twin force induction setup and I believe that mini was putting out around 265hp to the wheels
Since the thing is supercharged, there is a lot of modding potential. It can be an awesome track car.
I say go for it!

The kit is putting those numbers down I believe but Hubie's (SPI) car is @ 500 BHP right now. The mod potential is there with a MCS along with my MC as long as you can sport the cash. Definitely get a MCS if you plan to mod. It's a fun car. I can't part with mine.

What's your feeling on the JCW package? Nice base or not worth it?

Can't say, haven't looked into that package.

Fireball Tim was showing me Jan's Mini S on Saturday at HIN in Phoenix... its making 600hp with turbo > super > nitrous > 4 cylinders... completely gutted interior, CF doors hatch, planning to run 10 sec 1/4s this next weekend at Pomona... You can make them silly fast if you want to... they are working on the road course version now.

Not worth it. For that kind of money, you can get more power out of the car. My car has an M7 16% pulley on it, and I am neck-in-neck with my friends e36 M3 until 130km/h, then he starts to pull. Same story with Bobo83s zhp. No lies here. Thanks to the 05s shorter gearing. :woot:
Check out http://www.northamericanmotoring.com There are a few twincharged MINIs out there. If I remember correctly, there is one with 430whp. Thats right 430wheelhp.
Although I do miss RWD......and torque steer sucks....as do understeer.

I Love JCW, my friend has one, it pulls like a freak train. (yes this is coming from a m3 owner)
we had 4 people in the car, and that little car stills beats my friends 330i on a up hill road
best of all, is STOCK
oh and that mini handles like a dream. my god

Was the Silver SPI MCS now the red one? I'm confused. Either way that car is bad-ass. I have always liked the DEFI setup but I'm not willing to give up my AC. Although, I have been toying around with the idea of putting a set on the dash behing the steering wheel. It looks like they would fit very well and sit eye level. Plus, it doesn't look like they will block you vision.

I know this thread is kinda old, but any updates about the mini kit?

Not until early next year. Just got too many other projects in line at the moment that need to get wrapped up before we can finish the Mini project.
Are you gettin a Mini now? :D

forget the jcw kit if you don't care about warranty...getting the turbokompressor kit(or twincharged) costs almost the same and is pretty sick with 21-22psi

There is a load of modding potential in the MCS... just dont go say that in the M3 forum, because there seems to be a few jerks in there who think the mini is a toy. However... if your looking into JCW, I suggest you also look into Dinan if you live in the states and have a dinan dealer by you. Take a look at mini2.com forums and do some searching on the JCW kit. It is way over priced, but its not junk either. I went with dinan because I have a dinan dealer 10 mins from my house and when you compare both kits for what they are, the dinan kit is better. But if you wanna go all out on making it a monster straight line killer... look into twin charging. BBR has a kit which puts down 300hp and I read above they got 430 in a mini now. I am impressed with that! :woot: By no means I am an expert in this, just putting my opinion out there as a mini owner. After about 260 HP though your going to lose the "mini" handling in my honest opinion. If you want a straight line killer you might need something with a bigger platform.:dunno:
Dont worry about the engine in the MCS. They are as strong as they come from what I have read, with forged parts all over the motor.
I only mentioned this because people talked about insane HP minis and JCW stuff..

How much did your Dinan cost you? I was looking at Bav Auto, and they have pulleys and programmer was around $500 and I believe it was around 25-30hp.
I am looking at a Cooper S Vert and wondering what I could do to it. I dont want it crazy fast but around 200hp would be nice:thumbup:

CAI, Pulley, MTH TUNER ECU and exhaust should get you 200+hp

just saw this thread. My friends started a company called Gintani. They are making alot of new stuff for the Mini's. They started making a aftercooler with a front mount heat exhanger. This allows the car to run very cool and have low IAT's. One of their car's has a pulley/intake/aftercooler/straight pipe/headers and it runs neck to neck with a E46 M3 with exhaust. This is not BS as i was driving the car during the races.
They are right now building a mini with upgraded internals, cams, headers, pulley, exhaust. That car should be running very well. Even if you go to twincharged the aftercooler is a must.

FireballTim and Hubie were at HIN Phoenix, and i was able to check out the M600 race mini ; this thing is bad a$$... i was at the tuning shop in Mesa during one of their tuning sessions on the Mustang Dyno, the M600 was pulling so hard that it almost jumped off the rollers... without nitrous, i think the car was pushing about 500WHP - and i understand that's on a regular stock block with stock internals. Here are a couple of sites that i've been following on the race mini:

http://www.fireballtim.com/blog/index.php
Mynes Performance is currently developing their Mini tuning software and should be availble by the end of Feb (or sooner)... I would check with them for updates...
