I think you should redyno, although the peak numbers sound good theres some issues there.

we already know that they are a little lean, but the green run is perfect. I think that my next dyno will show much better AFR's. No knocking, SES's, etc. The car is running beautifully and fast as balls!
but i am still curious to know what Taza was referring to.

agreed, but from what i've heard the tailpipe snifter is usually off by a little :dunno: Either way, i'm getting software very soon. Just can't decide which stage....i think 10psi is a must. Why not, right :thanks:

My understanding is that stage II and higher are only available on the 330. For what it is worth, though, you can run the Stg I kits at 8psi with the correct pulley. According to what Technik has told me the software should handle the increased boost just fine. I'll let you know in about two weeks exactly how it works on my 328.

How much more hp will the 8psi pulley give you? isn't stage II 8psi?

Stage 2 for non-330s is simply a pulley upgrade. Only 330s get a larger compressor when increasing boost.

The pulley nets you about 10WHP.

Too expensive to develop the software, not enough demand. If you want to do it anyways, Technik will custom tune it for you, but you better check their rates for custom tuning first.

why no compressor upgrades for the 325/328 ??
The main reason is it's simply not necessary. Based on what we've seen on the dyno tuning these kits, the TM12 compressor is good for ~ 340HP, which is plenty for the 2.5. To go beyond that would put the longterm reliability of these engines in doubt...especially the 2.5 engines, which have cast crankshafts.
For the 328: While this motor can sustain a lot more power, unfortunately there isn't enough demand to justify the R&D expense of building/designing/tuning upgraded compressor kits. However, we do sell a Stage 2 8psi pulley upgrade for the 328 kit, which is good for additional 10WHP.

doesn't this calculation make auto more crank HP than manual?
No, because the autos put down less power to the wheels. Hence, the extra 5% loss conversion factor.
Example: Stock 330 makes 225HP at the crank.
A 330 manual would put down 225HP*0.85 = 191WHP
A 330 auto would put down 225*0.80 = 180WHP
To get crank HP from these WHP numbers:
330 manual: 191WHP/0.85 = 225HP
330 auto: 180WHP/0.8 = 225HP

Regarding the software, I was under the impression that you would need a different flash if you want to run the 8psi pulley on 2.5l. How can the SK1 software work if its only tuned for 6.5psi? Wouldn't this result in a rather bad AFR?
Also, what is the WHP ballpark for 2.5l with headers and 8psi pulley?
samir@technik

No, this is a general misconception about ECU tuning. The computer only sees airflow, nothing else. It doesn't get locked into a specific fuel table for a certain amount of airflow. Doing so, would actually create lean/rich problems, since the ECU would not be able to adapt for different atmospheric conditions, elevations, etc. What the ECU does to properly balance a preset AFR, is simply add or subtract fuel to keep it within range under different conditions (ie. part throttle, WOT, fuel transitioning, etc.).
Therefore, as long as your injectors can flow enough fuel, the ECU will always be able to compensate and adjust for whatever amount of airflow it sees. The limiting factor is always the fuel system, not the ECU. For the 2.5L kits, the injectors can flow up to 275WHP comfortably, which is plenty for 6.5 or 8psi. A manual 323/325 will put down about 260-265WHP @ 8psi and an auto around 245-250WHP, which is well within range.
Also, what is the WHP ballpark for 2.5l with headers and 8psi pulley?
Add about 10WHP to the numbers above, that will give you a rough estimate.

ARE THOSE NUMBERS, HIGH LIGHTED IN BOLD, WITH SOFTWARE LARGER INJECTERS, LARGER FMIC AND 8PSI PULLEY?? OR IS THAT FOR STOCK INJECTORS WITH 8PSI PULLEY??
I HAVE A 323CI ASA SK1 LARGER FMIC, LARGER INJECTORS, AND SOFTWARE, LOOKING FOR MORE BOOST...8PSI PULLEY.... HOW MUCH HP/TORQUE AM I GONNA BE LOOKIN AT??
HOW MUCH IS THE SMALLER PULLEY AND BELT??

Reliability is great. Just like the other kits. However, I would recommend the 6.5psi kit with the software upgrade, over the standard 5.5psi kit. It's only $300 more through the special here:
http://www.technikpower.com/news/111605.htm
Here's a dyno from a 323 manual (2.5L engine) with the 6.5psi kit:

Thanks for the info and dynos, very helpful indeed. I've seen mention that there is a upgrade plan in the works for the Infinitas to bolt on an intercooler, is this true? Is the 6.5 SK-1 w/o intercooler not pushing the limits of the 2.5 engine/reliability?
samir@technik
11-29-2005, 02:38 AM
Yes, they are working on an aftercooler for the kit. 6.5psi w/o an IC will not push the motor to the limit by any means.
