Hey Everyone...I also posted this in the general forum, but I could use all the feedback I can get.
I'm rarely on here due to my lack of time, but its always nice to get opinions and suggestions. I have a 2001 330ci automatic w/sportstronic with about 75K (yea..I do a lot of driving). Two days ago, I got in the car, threw it into reverse to pull out of a spot, then forward and it drove fine. 15 minutes later, getting back into the car and putting it into reverse...no movement. I had to push the car backwards out of this parking space, and then put it into drive. Now... I've never had any problem with the transmission, no slipping, klunking, grinding, etc. However, now, unless I keep it at low rpm, it won't move in reverse....at the low rpms, it will only crawl and build up speed slowly...still much less than it should be. It almost sounds like the car is in neutral. Even wierder, the forward gears are all fine and the car still hauls ass. Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this? Any suggestions? Im trying to get it to BMW, but I'm sure you all know how their appointment scheduling can be... A local tranny guy looked at it..but suggested a new transmission (yea, who wants to spend almost $4000). I have this feelign that it could be an electrical problem of some sort...thoughts?
