First thing first, download this video (http://s22.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=01O89TNOC84U01EWJXD88HFVI6) I put together. No, I wasn't in the race. But it was part of the event I attended. Read on.

What a day it has been! I signed up for the open track session for just Sept 25. It was a 2-day event organized by TCRA here in California.

So what's new?

I mentioned this before. I feel like a shrimp at the previous TCRA event. More so at this TCRA event. Reason being, the event is geared towards pro drivers and if you drive your own car to the track, unload your own tools, spare tire etc, you're seen as an amatuer and an outcast. Here are some pics:

This is part of the parking lot. I have never seen this lot filled up with trucks, trailers and RVs.

Ferraris, anyone?
<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~csl.parts/Willowsprings_0925/WS_0925_2.jpg">

Bernheim Porsche. See that transporter in the background? That's what I need. And couple of Vespas as well for moving around.
<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~csl.parts/Willowsprings_0925/WS_0925_3.jpg">

Hoosier vendor selling slicks like hot cakes!
<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~csl.parts/Willowsprings_0925/WS_0925_4.jpg">

These are not to be messed with.
<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~csl.parts/Willowsprings_0925/WS_0925_5.jpg">

My very humble corner.
<img src="http://home.comcast.net/~csl.parts/Willowsprings_0925/WS_0925_6.jpg">

There were 3 races. Two by POC and one by TCRA for under 2.2L. I had 4 sessions instead of the usual 5 sessions for $125 due to the extra race. Each TCRA event usually has one time trial, one open lapping, two races and one school event.

==========================================================

Other than that, car performs extremely well. There are a few folks who read my past 17 reports and thought that I am running the new ESS kit. I need to stress that this is the Technik Engineering's ASA SK1 thing I am running, with s/w and injectors. Just to recap, I have 2001 E46 325i with Steptronic. Yes, you heard me, Steptronic. :thumbsup:

The last two trips to Big Willow were very eventful. Do a search under this forum and you will know what I mean. Actually this time was quite interesting as well. After a day's of tracking, my front left Michlin Pilot Cup started to cord on the outside. Big Willow has two large right hand sweepers. And this being my 10th event, something on the tires has got to give up. I did drive home safely. No issues at all. New tires are on order. More track events coming up this weekend.

The other thing I wanted to share is the brake cooling kit I installed just 2 days before the event. Over the course of 2 weeks, I put together a kit that will work on my car. The plates are from Bimmerworld. But the rest of the parts are not. Reason being I have all those SC plumbings and my setup requires a different ducting design.

Verdict: Get the cooling kit if you track a lot. I can't believe how well they work at the track! I ran HP + with OE rotors and they held up very well.

I will spare you guys the mambo jambo technical stuff this time.

Til the next event, drive safe!! :thumbup: :thumbup:

Wow. Every time you post these new events with that ASA blower, I am closer and closer to making a decision on which supercharger to go with.

Thanks.

Actually you made that little push to start my ball rolling again. Hack from Bimmerfest.com did this on his E46 coupe a long while back but I wasn't paying much attention. The kit has been on my list of to-dos for a very long time. The recent hot weather really cooked my pads and got me thinking about installing the ducts.

I really should have done it earlier.

Yup. It was a quite a race! Not a full blown Grand Am or LeMans but still quite an experience. :thumbsup:
