This is the LOADED M3 CSL running Nurburgring. This is where ESS tunes and develops their supercharger systems. As of right now their goal is to have the fastest street registered vehicle on the Ring. Currently, they are *just* shy of that record.

I will see if I can get the times they are running...
The M3 GTR/Stuck post isn't relevant since that is not a street registered vehicle. They are aiming for the street car record.
And yes, it is that insanely fast...

Wait a minute, is the dyno chart of his 580 or 600 HP (whatever it really is) accurate? If it is, damn, that is one fast M (or M3 CSL in this case). Either way, that's insane. I'm also curious if this guy is using some nitrous in addition to being SC'D? I mean, how come no AA SC'D M's on this board aren't pushing 550 HP or whatever? Is it only cause they aren't CSLs or because no one has even dared to try to obtain that much HP? Sorry, I'm a newbie, but I'm here to learn :D. Educate me with some facts/information. Thanks.

Please get some more interior driving videos of the CSL if you can.

Jerry witht he AA SC PY M3 in miami is putting out 518 at the wheels, about 600 crank or close to it with some nitrous

Well to start off with thats a csl engine, he has different cams, that could prob adjust for the extra 20 HP compared to the AA. The AA Stage 2 SC'd cars do hit 550hp.

It can actually put out more than 600hp (there is no nitrous on the car) for a period of time... Notice the water tank at the rear of the engine bay (with the red pressure cap): Fill it with ice and it will improve the aftercooler charge efficiency for up to 30 min at WOT.
Notice the side exhaust pipes, GTR style!

Tomorrow is the big day for my ESS TX2 dyno run. I don't think I'll see 600 HP but I'll be happy if I can get anything over 275..., I'm betting 265-270.... I'll post the results asap (Sorry for the hijack, but it is kinda ESS related)

Alan, let us know how that dyno runs!
Also, I got the times from ESS for the M3 CSL. The street car record is around 7:30. The LOADED CSL is turning 7:35 on the Nurburgring driven by Swedish STCC 3-time consecutive champion Richard Goransson. Kicks the crap out of the Hans Stuck time in a GTR.

I just grabbed the dyno run from the ESS LOADED CSL too...
This is without ice, no nitrous (they don't touch the stuff) and before they turned the boost up. Stock motor, low compression pistons, stock VT2 supercharger kit.

:yikes: They have a graph where the x-axis is RPM instead of MPH?
Also, where can we find the full video of the M3 CSL lapping The Ring?

Not really a stock motor with low compression pistons...
MarvelPhx
09-29-2005, 02:25 PM
You aren't going to make big power from the M3 without changing compression or octane input. It is too damn high for real boost. To do it right, you lower compression with new pistons...
Maybe I should have said "otherwise" stock engine...

that last picture is a photoshop

and that extra tank is for meth injection, didnt hear he was runing a ice aftercooler
ps, i have the same tank in my car for my meth system

Of course it is a photoshop, they were playing with it like we all do... the graphics, gas cap, side pipes, wheel vents, etc are all for fun... doesn't change the fact of how fast it is.
And no, that is indeed a pressure tank for the aftercooler water and yes, you can use ice in there. They do not use methanol/water/alcohol injection.
TaZaM3
09-29-2005, 04:45 PM
Your not stating 600rwhp are you? He needs more then 1 bar for that.
I also did not know the ESS had a aftercooler setup.
MarvelPhx
09-29-2005, 05:00 PM
Im sure they mean 600hp crank. There is a water-water aftercooler integral to the intake manifold. It is a pressurized circuit, like your cooling system and can be cooled further with ice.
I just got another dyno vs RPM...

Wait til you see what is coming for the E46 non-M...
Can anyone say 400hp? how about 440lb/ft? ...... to the ground...
God, I love R&D...

Dude just alittle too much brown on your nose, relax.
400rwhp 440rwtq on your car, hahaha! You need a at least 1 bar of boost, not to mention you cant get that much tq with the SC. Maybe if you run NOS.

Ok, Im kidding... not really. Don't be so negative, I know what it takes to make that kind of power. So does ASA, Technik, VF, etc. It's not a mystery.

Because there are a couple of different combinations, and thats a big time difference.

So is the 200hp difference and the transmission between them...
Do you doubt the Carrera GT (612hp) driven by Horst von Saurma ran the street legal record in 7:32.44? They are less than 3 seconds shy of that.
I am prefectly astonished if they are hanging with a $400k+ super car regardless of what the GTR ran the Nordschleife in, GP circuit or not.

No, im talking about hans stuck driven GTR vs the "loaded" CSL times. I beleive the Carrera GT vs CSL times. My point is that the 8:47 GTR vs 7:35 CSL are different circuits.

If the GTR ran the south curve as well, then the times are more correct and shouldn't be compared. Not much point in arguing it here. Still a crazy M3.
And just more info, that CSL M3 isnt even the fastest M3 they are working on, they have something even better coming (~700hp)... soon to be available here in the US.

Just some comments.
MarvelPhx, you sure know a lot about the Loaded CSL. I don't know as many details, nor the status of the car as of today.
Instead, as I've written several times before, I've seen this monster in action and close up several times, and it simply blows the competition.
Stuck is a great driver, I've seen a lot of races with him when he was in his prime. But, he is probably not as fast as he used to be. Also, when I watched the Stuck movie, I was wondering what track he was driving, because the beginning and (as far as I remember) the end, is not the Nordschleife. On the other hand, it doesn't look like he is doing the full "sudschleife" either.
Horst von Saurma, isn't he the editor or something from a German automagazine? A pro could probably do it faster than that. Richard on the other hand is in his prime, and he can do magic with that car.
BBCs Top Gear / Jeremy Clarkson is doing the Nordschleife in 10 minutes in a Diesel Jaguar, but this is only measured on the "public" part. I wonder if there is one or more standards lap that everybody uses for timing.
MarvelPhx
10-05-2005, 04:18 PM
Saurma is the chief editor for Sport Auto, a German specialist magazine. The time was recorded on the North circuit (22.6km) and gave the Carrera GT the fastest time for a road-approved vehicle. I believe this does not include the south curve, so I don't know how it compares to other laptimes of the entire circuit (the track has so many segments and has changed a lot over the years anyway). All I know is how the Loaded CSL compares to the GT so far.
As for the CSL, I get a *lot* of information from ESS about the testing and building of the car. It isn't even done, they keep working on it to make it faster. And then this information trickles down to the production units we will be able to purchase from them. I just thought I would share it here at E46F.

Guys - does anybody know - just how many M3 CSL's did BMW actually produce?
HighRev
10-13-2005, 12:32 PM
you guys are talking about 2 absolutely different laps.
the time hans joachim stuck did in the M3GTR refers to a complete lap on the nordschleife (as the loades CSL did) PLUS the nürburing GP-course.
you can see it here:
http://www.fahrerlehrgang.info/img2003/nuerburgring.gif
the GP-course is in the bottom left corner. that´s aditional 3,6 to 5,1 kilometers (depends on which parts are driven) to the 20,8 kilometers of the nordschleife.
the M3GTR which is creating about 300 kilogramms of downforce an sould be a bit lighter than the CSL, should be faster than the loaded-CSL.
i hope i could help a little and sorry for my bad english :dunno:

highrev is right....two different tracks. when cars like the carrera gt post 7:32, altho it did eventually do 7:28, then this is just considered the Nordschlife. the motorsport GT-R ran the nordschilfe + gp course, so apples to oranges comparison.
if you want to get technical, the CGT ran a 7:28, the Donkervoort ran a 7:15, and a new Radical ran a 6:55 while being considered "street cars". altho, 7:35 for a "street car" (though this CSL is fully prepped) is very fast. this is not a tuner car or production car, but if we're considering such prepped cars "street cars," then i'd love to see what a koro 4.9L gt3 or a psi motorsport rts-4 would run :yikes: not to undermine the loadedcsl achievement. it posts an amazing fast time, even if it is fully prepped, and its astounding that a "street" m3 can achieve such a time on a street chassis
