A local installer recommended that I use a Tsunami capicitor to connect my two amps to rather than run two lines to the battery from the amp.

Anyone else buy it? The unit costs $190.

Mono amp Alpine MRD M605 to tw0 12" Alpine SWR 1242D subs in a sealed enclosure.

4 channel amp Alpine MRP F240 to drive teh stock speakers in the cab.

Unless you're having voltage drops, you don't need a cap. And if you do, connect it only to the M605.

Kind of defeats the reason to get the unit in the first place which was to connect both amps to it. They said it will improve performance and reduce the drain on the battery and alternator. what do you think??

What you need is a distribution block. 1/0 from battery to block then 4ga to your amps.

I dont know what BMW you have and I dont know where the battery is but...

Caps are better for peak music notes and batteries are better for constant power draw.

If your battery is under the hood, then I would buy a battery for the trunk (Optima.) If you are a basshead and your lights are dimming, then I would buy a battery and smaller cap. There is no advantage to running 1ga over dual 4 ga other than cosmetics.

If your battery is in the trunk and you have no issues with sound quality, battery drain, lights dimming, and never play your music parked, I wouldnt do anything if you dont want to spend money.

I ran optima battery in front, optima battery in rear, cap for 500/1, cap for 300/4, it was awesome. I never worried about anything and never had a dead battery regardless of volume or whether I was parked or driving.

IF by chance you have a 4ga run front to rear and dont want to run another cable, buy a battery. The battery will charge fine through the 4 ga, then you could run four 4 guages off it with no issues at all.

Your bass amplifier will use the cap a lot more than your 4 channel, but there is no reason you cant hook them both up to the same cap.

There is no such thing as too much juice, so go with what you can afford.

Not really. The battery can supply current to the 4 channel amp just fine. The sub amp will be the one drawing the most current.
