ok, i don't know if this is legal, but here it goes;
I found this place that sells the ALPINE 6 DISC MP3 CD CHANGER WITH the interface and the necessary cables, all ready and bundled to go for $400. They guarantee that the unit will work (play mp3s') in any 3 series BMW 1996 - 2003 including M & Z, but IT WILL not work on vehicles with DSP SYSTEMS 1996 318 TI. Navigation systems OK. And YES, it will play over 99 songs, it will just go back to one, but it will actually be the 100th song.

I asked the guy if he would give a group discount (10 + people) and he knocked the price down to $330+shipping. If anyone is SERIOUSLY interested please start numbering off. I think shipping is around $12, and there shouldn't be any tax. I'll confirm the shipping and if anyone is in seattle please point that out so we can all just share the shipping price. The website is:

http://www.oemautosound.com/

I told the guy (ernesto) that i would call him back sometime next week. I want this sh*T!! (better than rippin' out your oem stereo and disabling your steer controls)

Just wanted to give you guys my experience. For those of you who have the OEM Navigation, the SoundGate adapter doesn't work all that well. The random function works ok (but doesn't display correctly, so you don't know if on random mode or not), there is a delay for changing tracks, and if you push the forward button too fast, it will start to go backwards.

I haven't tried out the Blitz adapter, but it might solve the issues I just mentioned. I have also heard there is a Sony MP3 changer, and it doesn't seem to have any of the issues.

As for the price, its just ok. I purchased my Changer for $249, soundgate adapter for $89 and the extra cable for $10. Add that together and you get $348.

I have the v5 version of the sound gate adapter from a local shop called Compeition Soundworks. As for the delay, I suspect that it having to do with the SoundGate/Alpine Combo, you could either try the Blitz adapter, or the SoundGate/Sony MP3 Changer combo (which I heard works well). Originally I had the v4 installed, and it actually had the repeat/random button interchanged. v5 fixed that, but still is slow.

Its the Cerritos one.

You should be able to find the changer for $250 or so on a lot of the websites. Check with www.bimmerfest.com or something. I saw a link there for around that price and was going to purchase it from there.
