Quick update here...I've had my S/C on for a month now. Not too many miles on it as the car has been in various shops, but enough to break it in. Tranny fluid was changed recently, as was the coolant.
At an AutoX, the emphasis is more on handling and driver-skill, rather than raw power. Did it help or hurt? Jury is still out on this one...too many changes to my car (suspension, wheels, tires, S/C) to isolate any one as beneficial at this time. I ran on Kumho V710s...very grippy! I'd say I was more impressed by the tires than the S/C. Only in one area did I really feel the power of the S/C. It could've been the course design or maybe I'm rusty as I haven't participated in a BMWCCA AutoX in year and a half. I think I still ended up in the Top 10 (out of 90 total participants - students+instructors). Regardless, I pushed the car very hard and agressively upshifted at redline. The tranny is OK. My tranny always acts a little funny when pushed to the limits though, even before the S/C. It seemed undecided at times. I had a little of that, but that's something you deal with.
Oh...and I thought this was funny - my red painted trim got more attention than the supercharger  !? Hell, I had to actually point it out to some people cause they didn't notice it with all the other bling under the hood.
Next event won't be for a month and I intend to participate in the CCA school at Buttonwillow in February if all is well :) . Before then, I hope to visit a drag strip to get some official 1/4-mile times for all those who care about such things :eeps: :dunno: .
