Well, the mechanicals are finally done. There were a few delays (http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=308062) along the way, but everything is sorted out now. For the engine I have the Technik stage II S/C kit for the 328 (TM12 blower with 8psi pulley), 248/256 cams, Stage I ported and polished head, Supersprint headers, cats and exhaust. The transmission got the UUC SSK kit. The inside got Autometer Nexus gauges. The outside got an M3 bumper (no fogs yet). The car runs great (after sorting out some sensor issues), sounds like a race car and has tons more power.

Some pics of the engine bay:

Here you can see the intercooler and M3 bumper:

A nice shot along the side of the car - bumper fitment is perfect:

Here you can see the headers with the O2 sensors. If you look closely you can see the EGT probe a bit farther up on the headers:

A rather poor quality shot (even worse than the rest of the pics) of the exhaust tips:

For data acquisition, Autometer Nexus gauges for EGT, boost and oil temperature. My pictures don't come anywhere near doing justice for these. The opening and closing sequences are unbelievable and the color match when set to orange (although I think I prefer the blue color) is nearly dead on.

Unfortunately, the car is off at the bodyshop getting the subframe looked at. I'm going to have BMWNA take a look at and make a huge fuss to try and get them to fix it. I'll keep you all updated on how that goes, but I don't expect to get it back from them for another 4-6 weeks. That isn't quite as bad as it sounds since it is damn cold and there is snow everywhere over here.

Once it is all fixed up, I'll get some dynos and graphs for you all.

Nice, do you have supersprint exhaust?

Just wondering if it was a bad idea to upgrade your cams? Wouldn't you want less than stock overlap?

Also how loud did the exhaust get?

Cant wait till mine comes in, hopefully sometime in the next couple of weeks!!!

looking good. nice to see the problems didn't stop you from finishing :)

BostonBry: the 248/256 are cams specially designed for forced induction applications, with focus on the exhaust part.

To answer a few questions:

e-popa: I have the supersprint race exhaust for the 330 (including cats and minus the resonator) since that is a full dual exhaust and they don't make one specifically for the 328. The muffler required some custom work (basically custom adaptors) to fit since the 328 mountings are different, but the rest bolted on perfectly.

The exhaust is pretty quiet at idle, but gets loud with any throttle. It isn't quite as loud as headers + cams + Eisenman, but it is close. I haven't heard a TSE3 to compare it to so can't comment. The tone is hard to describe. It doesn't have any rasp and almost no drone, but no one will mistake it for anything but modified.

BostonBry: As for cams, these are the 248/256 cams from Technik. They are designed for FI applications with more exhaust duration. They have been shown to give 20-30hp with their superchargers.

BayerischeMW: As for the problems... nope, didn't stop me, just slowed everything down and made me more determined to see this project through. The delay isn't a bid dal since I wouldn't be driving this car much in the middle of winter. Once the subframe is fixed, I'll get the S/C broken in (~500 miles) and then get a dyno. I'm hoping for 300+RWHP as there was another fanatic who just installed a similar setup (minus the P&P head) who made 300+RWHP.

iLLM3 Thanks, it is good to be boosted.

Looking good! Did you retrofit the M3 bumper to fit your 328?

I actually bought the e-bay ABS bumper. It fits perfectly, but does use the carbon fiber M3 bumper reinforcement (which cost more than the bumper cover itself).

I'm going to have BMWNA take a look at and make a huge fuss to try and get them to fix it.
My friend has a 328i and has the subframe tear problem. He put everything back to stock EXCEPT he left his Koni struts/shocks on. A BMW rep took a look and because of the aftermarket shocks, they said they'd only pay for 50% of it :tsk: .

Once it is all fixed up, I'll get some dynos and graphs for you all.
Cool, I'd love to see them.

It is indeed :)
