A chip will kill the warranty. But exhaust and air intake is cool.

intake and exhaust will void the warranty as well. intake is easier cause if you have to go to the stealership you can pop it out and back in in an hour or so.

The funny thing about Dinan is its not covered by the BMW warranty as they would like everyone to believe. Dinan writes its own warranty to mimic the BMW warranty so if there is a repair needed related to that particular warrantied part, or a problem was caused to another part of the car by that Dinan part, its Dinans warranty who pays not BMW. While that might not mean much because you can say hey its still getting covered, you cant just go to any BMW dealer to get the part replaced. It has to be a Dinan Dealer. If the Dinan part caused a failure in your OEM Bmw ECU, a normal BMW Dealer will not replace it, a Dinan Authorized dealer will because its Dinans warranty not BMW.

That being said the chance of an Intake or an exhaust doing anything to cause damage to another part of the car is pretty rare.

According to the Magnuson Moss Act, BMW cant refuse your warranty on say your Alternator because you have an aftermarket intake or exhaust unless they can prove that those parts are what caused the damage (which we all know they dont).

So basically you are paying more for the Dinan name because of the implied warranty, and its overall not really any better of a product then anything else out there. Infact Dinans chip on the E46 states it gives no gain at all, just removes the speed limiter, raises the redline and gives better throttle response.

Well the dealer i go to, is a Dinan Dealer, it's Habberstad BMW. Also I'm friends with the guy who is head of the parts department, so it helps, when you get discounted quality parts. Also at least you have some warranty on the product and people to meet with in person, instead of some random website. They will actually look at the car in person and you won't have to talk to someone over the phone and tell them your problems. Also I got the Dinan software, not the Dinan chip. I would go with the Active Autowerks chip, well thats what I want to get. I know you get 12 more hp at 4000rpm's and 15 more torque at 3000 rpm, with the Active Autowerk Chip. I would recomend that chip over the one you are looking at.
