Ideal given the ambient condition that is.
I tracked my car at Laguna Seca during Nov 2003. Average ambient temperature about 19~20C and yet I saw 120C in my oil temp. That was ridiculously high. No oil cooler then.
Given the recent weather in So Cal, crusing oil temp about 95~98C and EGT about 550C. If I drive a little harder, oil temp about 100~102C and EGT about 700C.
In summer So Cal, oil temp never over 110C and EGT under 700C.
If you want to read more about oil temp/EGT numbers on track, go to my track blog.
Btw, what kind of gauges? Where did you install the oil temp sensor and is the EGT bank 1 or 2?
Thank you:thumbup: You always have great information.. What would those numbers be in F? I have Defi D-gauges. I installed the EGT sender right after the collector on the front exhaust man. I was told to install it on the man. nearest the firewall but I couldn't get in there to drill and tap. Not sure what bank is. I have not installed the oil temp sender yet, waiting for the Leather Z oil dist. block. Thanks again!!

I posted this a very long time ago, hope it helps:
Autometer EGT gauge with sensor installed in the collector:
At idle, engine fully warmed up 5800
Cruising around town with light traffic 8000
3rd gear 2800 rpm 40 mph 9000
4th gear 4000 rpm 75 mph 1200
4th gear 2600 rpm 50 mph 900
5th gear 3000 rpm 70 mph 1000
5th gear 3500 rpm 80 mph 1100
5th gear 4000 rpm 90 mph 1200
5th gear xxxx xxx 100 mph 1300
Cool I'm pretty damn close to those number as well. So I take it that 1400 and over for EGT and 230 and over for oil is bad news?

Not sure about the oil, but you dont want to see 1500+ egt values
Thanks!^
So does anyone know what the oil temp should be?

Sorry ewok, I am more of a metric person.
Easiest way to remember is that 100C = 212F or when water boils. Also you can google the conversion, just type in "105C to F".
230F (110C) is ok, although I have heard that those with S54 have seen 248F (120C) on the streets. Again it depends how you drive the car and how hard you pushed the car.

In my short experience with my S/C (about 50 miles total), my oil temperature runs about 140-160 Farenheit. My EGT seems to hang around 1100 Farenheit when on throttle. Keep in mind that I haven't pushed it much as of yet.
Thanks guys!! I'm waiting for my Charger to come in so I can hook up the oil sender. Hopefully some time early this week. I hope the install goes smoothly, wish me luck!
Thanks agian everyone:thumbup:
