Nice car
Wagons(touring) are not big in North America, most people move up to a SUV instead of a wagon

Thanks.
I like the bmw wagons very much, especially the new 5 series.
I just added the rims, other bulbs and another radio with navigation to my car. From the extras its nearly complete.
I get really tears in my eyes when i see some of your cars in N.A. Our police would stop these cars immediately ;-)

You'll find a small but vocal community of touring owners on this and other sites....I imagine some of them will be checking in on this post soon. I love the touring because it's functional and unique - even in a BMW saturated town like Dallas, a wagon is a rare site. Is it really 50/50 in Germany? I wonder how many more would be sold here if there was a 3.0 or diesel option?

I almost bought a 540 wagon but just couldnt do it. Americans are a little too concerned with looks over practicality. Just look at my fleet below; a vechicle for every need. lol.

your answer can be ascertained from the following sentiment:
if I for a new york minute ever felt that my ///M warranted the descriptive term "bundle of joy" id kick my own ass :slap:
it seems %wise (i doint have stats - just a feeling) most US owners arent turned on by the whole wagon thing . . . not to say the tourings posted aren't nice cars!

Nice tourings. I'd consider getting a wagon, but the wife wants an SUV.

Actually, we are *very* outnumbered, but as you've seen, there are a few. As another poster commented, people tend to get SUVs rather than wagons in America, and BMW actually doesn't send many wagons here. Maybe that will change with gas prices so high for us these days.
I just bought a certified pre-owned 325xiT about a month ago. Once I decided the xiT is the car I wanted (I originally wanted an X3), it took a while to find a nice one in the right color with low miles (and seemingly impossible to find with a standard).
Several photos of mine here, but it's bone stock, so not very exciting:
http://homepage.mac.com/mike.thomas/PhotoAlbum16.html
Mine is a daily driver, so I probably won't mod much - probably will just get bigger (17") wheels and summer tires next spring (and keep the 16ers for winter tires), and maybe do clear corners and speaker upgrades.
Someone mentioned that Americans are into looks over practicality, but I love the looks AND the practicality of my car. I agree with another that the car may sell better with a 3.0 liter. I sure wish mine had one :-\

good for you that you like the wagon.
The new 5er wagon, is not that ugly, but most people in the States rather pick SUV than choosing a wagon.

Thanks for so many different answers.
I see that there are very different thinkings about the wagons in the us.
What i mean about the "american way of tuning" ist for example the complete tinted windows, full polished or chromed wheels in 19" or 20". In Germany you see most time on the e46 17" or 19". It is really rare to see something bigger.
The american cruiselights in the bumper or in the turnsignals are in Germany strictly forbidden, because they are not mede for the EU. I am nerving my dealer for programming these day running lights, but it seems not to be possible, because there are no 320i in the US - is that true ???
I saw it at an american M3 convertible at a meeting and it looks great.
I saw many BMWs with Asanti wheels - in Germany they cost a lot of money, much more than BBS f.e. Is that also in hte US ?
@nonQwave : No, i do not have a flight license, just a friend whose plane stands at this small airport.
I think your german is pretty good. But how about my english, it is just school english, but i often watch american sites on the net.
by the way, in germany there are 3.0 ltr. wagons available. theres the 330i, 330xi, 330d and 330xd.
our neighbour had a 330i with full options, really nice, especially the engine ;-)

Agreed the chrome 20's have no place here! I love the tourings, would much rather have one than an SUV. But for me it would come down to touring or truck, and that would be hard.

Here's mine, a stock 2002 325xit that I have had for just over a year to the day and 20,000 miles . I drive the heck out of mine, Commute, Ski weekends, Auto-X, even track it! And BTW no kids or dogs here, just really like the look and that little extra utility. Have some mods planned including suspension and a 3.0 litre engine swap later this month
